We had lunch at the Glenfinnan Station Dining Car at the end of July. We booked a table about two weeks in advance by email, and when we arrived our reservation was ready for us. The dining car is quite small, and we noticed several people hoping to sit inside were turned away since all the tables were either taken or reserved.
My husband ordered the smoked salmon sandwich, which he really enjoyed. I chose the chicken sandwich, which was a bit disappointing?the meat seemed more like processed chicken rather than freshly cut, and it was on the dry side. Both sandwiches came with a simple side salad and dressing. We also shared a plate of their special fries, which were excellent. Overall, it was a nice meal and the perfect way to fuel up before our hike to the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
When we returned from the hike about two hours later, we stopped in again to pick up two slices of cake and some drinks to go. Unfortunately, the cakes were dry and not as enjoyable as we had hoped.
Still, the restaurant is worth a visit for the unique atmosphere and the experience of dining in the old railway car. The waitresses were also very friendly, which added to the charm.

Food was delicious, very generous portions.
We ordered for 3 adults.
1. Fish and chips - fresh came in the morning!! Lightly battered super crispy and doesn?t take away the beautiful taste of the fish. The salad was very nicely dressed as well, not oily and not too vinegary. Tartare sauce was home made and beautifully balanced.
2. Soup of the day (tomato and basil) - the bread was super fresh and crispy on the outside!! The soup was wonderful and flavourful for a simple soup.
3. Open sandwich with sautéed mushroom spinach and onions - we ordered without onions (preference) and it went super well with the soup!!! Mushrooms and spinach cooked to perfection, and the toast underneath was NOT soggy at all!!!
4. Baked Goat cheese with honey walnuts and chilli- goes wonderfully with bread. The goat cheese was just enough savoury to match the sweetness. The chilli adds a perfect kick to it.
They were super busy ( August is peak tourist season ) but so welcoming and kind at the same time.
The only disappointment was the bathroom - go to the one at the station instead, it?s cleaner!

We stopped here for some breakfast before making our way round to the viaduct. Service was lovely and food was excellent, can highly recommend the smoked salmon

A 100% perfect place to have a spot of lunch after seeing the Glenfinnan Viaduct Harry Potter train. Friendly staff, amazing ambience and wonderful food.

What a cool spot, and delicious food! Got the home smoked salmon, duck, and cheese platter for two - really high quality. Salads must have had 20 different bits of produce and edible flowers. Steak sandwich was excellent. Worth going out of the way for.

Surprisingly good restaurant! We were lucky that we didn?t have to wait to be seated. The food is fresh and delicious and the view is astonishing! The entire restaurant is built in a training dinning car, including the toilet. To make it even better, we countered the Harry Potter train right after we finished the lunch, everything?s perfect! The only thing that can be improved is the blood-sucking-fly, it?s quite an annoying if you want to stay for the view.

We truly enjoyed our time at this lovely dining car. Large portion sizes. Delicious and such a treat, perfect to have in Glenfinnan as it evokes the Hogwarts express
