This a completely different and vastly superior experience to your typical mainstream optician chain.First of all the eye test itself, which covered a far more comprehensive check on eye health that I've ever had before.Then the process of selecting and buying glasses was excellent. The staff really took time to figure out the right frame for me, and weren't in any way pushy or salesy.Just a brilliant service all round. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

I can?t praise this practice enough. After wearing contact lens for 40 years I now have dry eyes. After years of opticians only prescribing standard drops and gel and the stock answer to any concerns I had being ? Its just your dry eye. I eventually googled ?dry eye clinic? and was very impressed with Craig?s CV and reviews. In fact the whole practice was impressive. Had my first appointment with Craig 5 weeks ago and went home with various drops and gel. After sticking rigidly to his treatment plan I was back today for a follow up review and was delighted that my results showed a marked improvement. To say I?m impressed with this practice is an understatement. The staff especially Craig are very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I have to take 3 trains and it takes 2 hours to get to Bearsden but it is so worth it. Anyone worried about their eyes book an appointment, you won?t regret it. I now have an optician I feel I can trust.

I visited Peter Ivins for an eye test at 4 weeks post partum. The whole team were very accommodating and didn't blink when I turned up with a tiny baby in his pram (to be fair, he was on his best behaviour).I was having headaches and was not getting on with my old glasses from a high street chain because they kept falling off my face. Mr Ivins sorted me out with a new prescription and suggested drastically reducing the prism in my glasses, my vision with the new glasses is fantastic and my headaches have reduced too.The dispensing assistant who helped me with my frames really knew his stuff and my glasses are a wonderful fit, they don't move on my face at all but don't feel too tight either.I would 100% recommend Mr Ivins and his team and will be using them in the future for my families eye care.

What can I say about Peter Ivins Eye Care.Well, simply, they are fantastic, and they offer an incredible service.I got in touch with them, due to an ongoin, problematic vision issue. From the very first contact with Craig McArthur, he was first class.With an incredible knowledge in his field, Craig diagnosed my issue, where others had failed time and again. He offered a solution to the problem, which after many years, still affords me great corrected vision.I now regularly attend the practice for follow up appointments with Craig, who is always on hand to offer a first class service, as is all the staff.I recommended Peter Ivins Eye Care to my whole family, given the confidence I have in all they do, andwithout a doubt, they are light years ahead of others in the eye care sector, and I'd happily recommend them, time and again.

Having had the scariest experience of my life, quite literally going blind and then regaining some of my sight but not enough to be corrected with glasses, I was referred to Craig McArthur at Peter Ivin?s. With the major issues my eyes have, it was unsure whether, even with contacts, I?d regain functional eyesight.However, Craig?s expertise, skill, outstanding patience (and great banter!) over the last 14months means I have vision again. I can?t even express how that feels. I think with ?normal? opticians, I?d still be ?blind? but this guy knows his stuff and like me, is too stubborn to give up. I honestly believe that if Craig had always been my optician, my symptoms would not have been missed for so long and I would not be in the position I am now. Thanks Craig and all the team who have also been super helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

I specially travel from the Southside of Glasgow to visit the opticians. The service and care provided by Craig and the team are unmatched. They really go out of their way to help. They provide professional and sincere advice whilst maintaining a friendly manner. Couldn?t recommend them enough!

I recently returned from what can only be described as a very negative experience at Peter Ivins Eye Care.I first contacted the optician to improve the vision with my contact lenses. On my first consultation there were a number of tests taken and Mr Ivins decided to order soft toric lenses for me as a trial. Having never worn these (I have worn hard lenses for 14 years) I was aware this would be a big change but was eager to try. The lenses were ordered and when I arrived after sitting for 20 minutes attempting to put them in we came to the conclusion that these were not an option which were viable for me. This was as disappointing to me as the optician as I was really hoping they would be possible.Upon return, Mr Ivins suggested a pair of glasses to be worn over my current contact lenses. I was uncertain at first as I already have glasses and was really after a pair of contact lenses to improve my vision. I was confident in his expertise and went with the glasses he suggested to be worn over my contact lenses.After wearing these for a week they were not improving my vision at all. If anything they were making it worse. I contacted Peter Ivins Eye Care and explained clearly these were hindering my vision. I was still very keen to find a solution and wanted to remain with the store as I felt I had already invested multiple trips, time and extensive testing. The man I spoke with on the phone was extremely helpful and explained an alternative would be the best solution and arranged another appointment.On my final visit we tried gas permeable lenses. I tried the lenses and they seemed to fit and work well in my eyes. I was extremely relieved after 4-5 trips and a lot of time. It was then it became apparent that the glasses which I had purchased in good faith to improve my vision would not be exchanged or taken back by the company and the purchase of these lenses were entirely my own cost. I should also mention these glasses were to be used at night-time and driving so it was impossible for me to test this in store at the time of purchase. The words ?trial? has been used throughout our consultations and so it was my belief that we would trial products until we found one which would work. I explained the glasses were completely useless to me as they had not helped my eye sight in at all. I was clear at this point I didn't want a refund, I wanted to use the money I had spent on the glasses towards the contact lenses.Unfortunately, what I needed to be a strictly professional conversation about finding the right product at the right cost turned personal. Mr Ivins told me they were not a charity and there was absolutely no way any of the cost of the glasses could be redeemable against the contact lenses and I would need to keep them even though they did not help my vision. He told me in my multiple visits to the optician I had ?used up enough of their time.? He also mentioned my complicated prescription had not made his job easy. When it appeared we would not come to any agreement I explained I would not be taking the contact lenses to which he told me I was making a silly mistake.I left the opticians feeling extremely upset and disheartened especially after multiple trips over £300 and a lot of time travelling there and back.While I cannot doubt Mr Ivins expertise as he appeared to find a suitable solution in the gas permeable lenses I can speak for the extremely poor customer care, service and manner in which he spoke to me in the consultation room.

I was recommended to Peter Ivins by a specialist ophthalmologist due to Beatson meds at which stage I thought nothing else would work. I just knew my life, work and balance was getting worse due to my dry eyes , which felt sore and gritty. Crying made therm sting, cooking, winds all hurt. From my very first visit, I was impressed. Peter Ivins measured the moistness in my eyes was only lasting for 2 secs - that should be between 12-14secs - this caused my agony. He gave me day and night eye drops which I religiously use as he prescribed. I didn't need to change my prescription but saw and heard of so much better quality sunglasses Maui Jim - with the eye cover I needed - and later bought bi-focals for ease for work - again impressed! Didn't know such an improvement in glass actually existed and glorious to see from. Really highly recommend. Thanks Peter and the whole team.

For years tried a variety of opticians but from my first appointment here i knew this was the only place i would ever trust again with my eye care! Excellent service and explanations that you can understand on how to take care of your eyes. Thanks to Craig and the team for all they do:)
