Had crab steamed dim sum and clay pot cooked duck dish both of which were delicious (plenty of other tasty looking options on the menu too). Staff were attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back

The dumplings were ok, quite disappointed in the portion size. The Massaman curry is massively overpriced in my opinion, and can portion size wasn?t great. 3/5. Would probably not go back. Service was decent!

I am unfortunately disappointed with Opium. I had a fantastic night with fantastic service, however, I emphasised multiple times that I am gluten free with an allergy, to which I was assured would be catered for. I ordered the gluten free spring rolls, but I was told they were replaced by an item on the normal menu. I asked if they were gluten free, the servers checked with the chef and confirmed they were. I was a bit suspicious but when they arrived they looked fine so I didn?t have any reason to doubt. Unfortunately I had a very bad reaction to them, so I cannot recommend this place for coeliacs or gluten free folks. It?s a shame, because the food was amazing, and the servers were incredibly friendly, but it is quite dangerous to emphasise how something is ?gluten free,? have it be checked multiple times, and it not be gluten free.

I don't quite understand why this restaurant is so highly rated. I was really disappointed with my experience. The gyoza were stodgey and largely tasteless. The vegan prawn crackers were the worst I've ever tried anywhere. As for the main, I had the Kung Pao. The peppers were completely uncooked and the sauce was a little too sweet to be enjoyable. This wasn't better than any corner Chinese takeaway you'd go to and yet 3 times the price. like The worst aspect was the fried rice, really not tasty. For £30 per person, I expect a much higher quality of food. At one point a large sustained blast of cigarette smoke started blowing through from the kitchen where one of the staff was clearly smoking near a doorway. This, as you can imagine, added to an already unenjoyable experience. This is the second time I've been here and my group weren't impressed the last time. I won't be giving it a third chance.

DO NOT TIP!
This place was fantastic! The food was great and the service was even better. However, I recently found out that the girls don?t get to keep their tips, and that goes for cash tips too. It?s a real shame.

Our experience of Opium was somehow disappointing, the ambience was very noisy which was quiet unpleasant as our table was in the middle and we were getting the loud talking noise from both sides which wasn't their fault as it was a busy night but the service also was very erratic and lacked experience, disrupting the dining by trying to take dishes away while we were still eating, missing dishes, but we couldn't fault the food which was very tasty and wished the service and ambience was a bit better.

Spectacular food and fast service. Very creative and delicious dumplings. Only reason I give 4 stars is the price is a bit expensive for the portions.

Usually pop in for lunch. I have had dim sum in Hong Kong and China and this is every bit as good. Really tasty and beautifully presented. Main courses are excellent too. Highly recommended.

This place is incredible! It is a must if you are in the area. I think their dim sums are best, if possible get a bunch of dishes to share, so you can sample as much as possible. The satay wontons and XO scallop dumplings were probably some of the best dim sum I'm ever had. Highly recommend!

Nice restaurant for a casual out, don?t have to book in advance. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyable setting.
Very nice and tasty dishes. Fully enjoyed our dinner. But I forgot to take photos (only took one towards the end of our meal). ?

Wow! Unreal food, everything we ate was 10/10. Hot sour soup, Sui mai, dumplings, prawn toast ribs, black pepper steak and king pao chicken. The meat in the main courses was delicious, and natural not the usual sloppy cornflour mess in Chinese restaurants. Will definitely be back. The cocktails were also delicious

We had dim sum for dinner and it was delicious! We particularly enjoyed several of the wontons and plum ribs. Very pretty place and quiet.

Only one Chinese Restaurant in Scotland holds a Rosette award so we had to check it out. We had a wide selection of food, everything hit the spot! Hand wrapped dim sum is not to be missed. They are also one of the few Chinese restaurants that have a separate Gluten Free menu.
