I found some great stuff here at a cheap price but it gets one star because the older woman at checkout was really rude. I tried to make small talk and she scowled at me then kept shaking her head as she took the clothes that I wasn't buying. She proceeded to have a coniption because I left two hangers in the change room. The young person who took my payment for what I did buy was really nice and seemed embarrassed of their colleagues behaviour. I wouldn't go back because of that other woman, she was really awful.

Charity shop

This Marie curie cancer care charity shop has to be one of my least favourite charity shops and my reason for this is that l struggle to ever find anything worth buying. You will never find a hidden gem here. What do they have? There are a lot of rails of clothing mainly for the older generation mostly for females I've never seen a descent window display here and their bric a brac selection could be described as minimalistic. There is a small corner for books but they can be expensive and next to it is a selection of kids toys & board games. Price range? I would class this charity shop as expensive and in some items you would get a better deal buying brand new where l found a pack of four glasses from Asda marked at £4.00 and if you went to Asda store they where £1.29 for four for the same item. Games I recently purchased a board game for £4.95 and as soon as l got home some of the main items of the board game was missing and as the boxes are sealed with sellotape you cannot check before you buy. If you are buying glassware they do not wrap your purchases with newspaper, seems to be too much work or hassle for some people. Being nice sometimes goes a long way but several staff here looked as if they suck lemons.

What appears to be your average grubby charity shop is actually filled with hidden gems that are worth a bit of rummaging. On a recent charity shop trek around the west end, I popped in here for a look around, and almost missed the wee tub of tat on the counter. Amongst the tangled necklaces and broken beads I found myself a lovely little cameo brooch, a little tattered and a lot of character, for only £1. Something that would easily fetch around a tenner in high street stores at the moment, and I managed to find the real deal for a fraction of the price. This is exactly why I love a wee nosey around seemingly sad charity shops, as they're often harbouring the most fantastic finds.

Let me tell you, I am a new convert to this Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospice Shop. (Yes, yes, I know that was a bit of a mouthful - but that's what they like to be called). It's much bigger than all the other charity shops on Dumbarton Road, and has a great selection of items on offer. Plus, the group of old ladies who run it are lovely! In fact, instead of browsing haphazardly through a few rails and maybe swapping the spare change in the bottom of my handbag for a paperback or two - I actually came away with a Really Exciting Purchase. So exciting, in fact, that it deserved to be capitalised. Want to know what I bought? Well, at the moment Marie Curie Cancer care are selling specially printed wellington boots in aid of their cause. There are three different designs, but mine are covered in printed daffodils. Sensible AND stylish, as well as costing only £8. My advice? Get down there pronto.
