Went to this Wetherspoons as Counting House is always packed and this is close by in town. Usually don't have much an issue here but I went in and waited about 40 minutes for my food when I ordered and it was undercooked, and almost cold. I also ordered a mug for the coffee machine that never arrived for me or sent me the confirmation email yet I still got charged (its only £1.70 so not much of a waste but still). When I told the staff about my food not arriving, the girl just had a 'couldn't be bothered' attitude on her. Had a terrible experience here and has put me off going back to this pub.

I am making comment on my poor experience at 2230 on 26/7/2025.
I was evicted by security staff,on behalf of the command of male night shift duty manager when going out for phone.
They say I got drunk,walked around and disturb other customer.However,as I needed to drive for my friends,I only order a coke and chips throughout 6 hours with my 2 friends drinking alcohol.
Thr reason why I wander around is to take care of a friend that is severely drunk and went for the toilet to make sure he is safe and awake.
However,when I stepped out of restaurant.i was asked to leave and being fobidden to go back.
When I asked for reason they claimed I am too drunk and actually I didn't buy any alcoholic drinks and while other customer are still being allowed to go into it and there is no standard how to judge a person he is drunk or not.
Thus,I suspected the manager and security guard are racist towards Asian and are discriminating against those being quiet.
I will make a complaint to head office and police as that experience is highly unpleasant and its racial discrimination.
I have been to other pub for many times and this is the first time for being sent out .

Great location in the city centre, very spacious inside and busy most days. Plenty of draft beers, various gins and I like they give you big gin glasses with plenty of ice. The staff work really hard to serve you quickly. The toilets are downstairs and started to look tired and often the doors don?t close properly. The food is typical pub food and it?s served quickly and hot. Reasonable prices and the standout you expect from the Weatherspoons brand. Would recommend

Excellent value here compared to the pub we abandoned due to sky high prices. However service, as per all Wetherspoons, is slow at the bar.

Much as we love The Counting House, it's often quicker to get a seat and get served in The Society Room. Generally, a more relaxed atmosphere too. Convenient, with nearby bus stops.
