Gordon Street does nice coffee, and it should be a go-to for me, especially as I need to be in Central before 8 am now. However, they add an "optional" service charge, which no one is going to argue over in a shop. For the sake of 13p, I feel that the company has stolen from me. I'm much more likely to avoid the shop than ask for a service charge to be removed and the feeling of having money forcibly taken from you sours the taste of the coffee.
They could have just added 15p to the cost of a coffee, and I would have paid it without raising a problem. They should charge the amount that they think the product is worth and pay their staff the amount that they believe the staff are worth.

We ordered coffee and pastry for breakfast, and the coffee tasted like burnt or reused coffee , we could not drink it , shame as we order regularly and had no issues previously

Called in waiting for a train. I ordered a hot chocolate which was so cold, so I asked for another and was given an equally cold hot chocolate back. My husband ordered a cappuccino which was also cold. Miserable experience..cold drinks, sat in a cold drafty coffee shop. Won't go back

Great little coffee place, conveniently loceted in the station. Good vibes, a few food options and good coffee (and I?m a snob?)

Pros: great coffee, love trying out different types of coffee of the week, the seated area upstairs is cosy and unique.
Cons: 'optional' service charge - I would think that service fees are included in the overall coffee price? Ironically, I feel that sometimes service is lacking with staff exhibiting anti-people vibes. Finally, the Internet can be bad so not a good option to sit there with a laptop while waiting for the train.

I've always enjoyed the coffee here. But in today for a take away coffee and I've been overcharged. Trying to figure it out I found a sign saying 'optional' service charge. Well it wasn't optional. I had no option. It was just added at point of sale. It was a ropey scam.

Lovely coffee shop right by central station. Super tasty coffee and the delicious smell of freshly roasted coffee makes it even better. Friendly staff and a good selection of cakes!

Great coffee in the city centre, they have an in house roaster so the coffee is very fresh. The staff were very friendly and kind, definitely a great stop if you are exploring the city.

It is supposed to be a specialty coffee. I think it needs to improve the roasting and preparation in order to reach a better level...
