If you have to wait in excess of 20 minutes to speak to a person then you are not employing enough staff

If you?re not going to have a functioning app or website you need to maintain opening hours, impossible for full time working professionals to bank with coop. This is the only physical branch of a cooperative bank in Scotland, sending us online or telling us to call a helpline and wait on hold for goodness knows how long is not good enough.

Pathetic app. Pathetic service. Use a credit union instead. It has the integrity you think you?re getting here?. But not.

Awful. Internet app is down yet again.

One branch for the whole of Scotland, that is the way to maximise profit over service.

I wish I had never started banking with these complete incompetents.I opened a current account in January 2024, all OK.Tonight, I went to move some monies across from my Co Op Current Acct to another current account with a different bank to pay for some urgent car repairs. The monies are meant to arrive instantly but they haven't, which has caused unnecessary stress & inconvenience. After this transaction, I completed a couple of additional transactions for much smaller amounts & these monies arrived instantly? Very very odd.I have never experienced any such problems with any other bank, all monies transferred arrived instantaneously, even for larger amounts. The Co Op Bank seem to be living in the dark ages like modern banking never occurred.Tread very carefully, not as ethical or as efficient as they might promise.Avoid the Co Op Bank at all costs based on my recent experience.Additionally, I will be telling all & sundry about my terrible experience in addition. At time of this review, I have still to receive this transfer of my own monies & a four figure sum has disappeared into the ether. Very stressful. It'll be interesting to see whether a bank that prides itself on such 'ethical' customer service bothers even to reply. I suspect not. Appalling for a bank in 2024.*** Update as of March 2024. Co-op eventually authorized my transfer of funds & explained the anti-fraud measures needed when new accounts opened, still quite unsatisfactory but upgrading experience from 1* to 2*

If I could rate the Coop bank with zero stars I would. My 85 year old Mum, who has been a customer of the bank for more than 40 years, went into the Glasgow branch and the staff refused to carry out her simple instruction - to transfer her money internally between her two Coop bank accounts. She showed them her passport and driving licence and they point blank refused to carry out her request. My mum called me and authorised me to speak to them on her behalf to resolve the issue (I have been in the bank several times with my mum and Declan in the branch knows the family). I asked to speak to Declan but he was with another customer. I escalated to Pamela and she refused to carry out the transfer despite me clearly outlining the request and our previous meetings with Declan. This isn?t the first time the Coop bank in Glasgow have treated my mum in an obstinate and disrespectful way. My dad worked for the Coop for many years and they?ve been loyal customers of the bank for decades. The attitude of the staff in the Glasgow branch is awful and I would not recommend this bank to any prospective customer. We will be taking this up with the FCA.

Account had been hacked with £182 taken. The guy was excellent in explaining what they would do about it and what would happen next. Was concerned about it all but he put me at ease. Superb customer service?

Awful experience. Made an enquiry regarding my daughter trust fund in order to close and move funds to junior isa. The looks I got from the woman who was clearly jumping to wrong conclusions. After discovering the account can't be closed until child 18 (although they weren't very sure about it) I didn't get a courteous closure like "apologies Mr Smith I hope this can be resolved for you". Instead it was a dumb stare. How do these people get jobs? Yet another example of blatant sexism and misandry aimed at a man. Avoid this place
