“Searching for a specific reference book, I was at first disappointed due to not finding it and magically nobody there to help me ? BUT I bought another book (coming with a fabulous free chai latte), then went to the top floor, found 2 more books and another one on 1st floor and went down to entry level for payment. There the lovely person at the cash desk helped me to find the book I was searching for ? So I went on again and got this book, went back to the cash desk and GOT A 5% DISCOUNT TOO ? Thank you, Waterstones, for this amazing experience ?”

“Calton Books is such a great wee bookshop. There is a wide range of books, on a variety of subjects, and they are well organised, so it's easy to find what you're looking for. The section on Irish history is particularly impressive. If you like your political pins and t-shirts, there are plenty available, and I challenge anyone to leave without buying anything. The chap behind the counter is very knowledgable, and it was a pleasure to chat with him.A visit to the shop is highly recommended, but ordering online is handy and pain free. The website is well presented and easy to use.I've said elsewhere that every city needs this type of bookshop, and Calton Books certainly does Glasgow proud.”

“Definitely one of my favorite Waterstones. Love the display, recommendations and theme tables that make sense, the big staircase and how well organised the store is! The café is also lovely with plenty of seating options. Absolutely love coming here!”

“What a great experience. I consider myself to be an experienced antiquarian book collector from the US and Caledonia Books of Glasgow did not disappoint. Proprietors Martin and his sister (my apologies for not remembering her name) were just great. Once I explained what I was looking for they were extremely helpful. Nice selection of both contemporary and antique books. Definitely one of the top antiquarian shops in Scotland.”

“A great selection of books. It's a pity to learn the owners have decided to take a backseat but there is no defeating father time. I hope they will continue to carefully select the best books, subjects and authors, modern literature has to offer.”

“I visited here just before 5pm the other day. With some of the shutters partly down, I expected it to be closing, but it was open till 5.30pm. Plus, when you see Sauchiehall street now, can you really blame a store for being security conscious and only half open? I definitely can't - so many junkies and lowlifes in the town centre now - they seem to have multiplied like Covid since Lockdown - and never a police officer around now either.Anyway, moving on; the shop is stocked with alot of items. I found the 2 books I was looking for, but what I did notice is that particular store has far more toys and craft items than most other stores I've visited. For the size of the shop, it had very few books. The guy at the checkout was friendly enough (possibly sarcastically though) and I was glad I paid a flying visit for all of 3 minutes. If you're after a recent book, I'd recommend trying there. I picked up one that was several pounds cheaper than Amazon and hadn't even been published/made available on Amazon yet.Let's try and keep the high street alive, especially bookshops like The Works, Waterstones and W.H. Smith; after all, we often don't appreciate what we have until it's gone - i.e. Woolworths, BHS, C&A, Zavvi, Borders, etc,.”

“This little book shop within the CCA is an absolute delight. It shelves have an almost curated look about them, and include works that you may not easily come across elsewhere.”

“All manner of books (new and old) covering a wide range of subjects; from local ie Scottish to America and beyond.Subjects include history, politics, religion as well as works of fiction. All at reasonable condition ( it is a charity book shop) and good prices. My biggest gripe is there are so many books you can lose track of time :)All in all a definite place to pass the time in and who knows, find a treasure...”

“Amazing wee shop with a lovely knowledgeable gent serving you. We picked up some gorgeous looking books about Rabbie Burns and had a great wee nosey about at all the different genres and posters. I had quite a chuckle at the entire divine comedy of Dante printed on a very very tiny little snub book. Loved it, I'll be visiting often”

“Spoke to Kirsten (Monday 8/9), what a lovely, kind and extremely helpful lady. She went way above and beyond to try and help me find a Law book which they don’t stock. Really made my day. Thank you so much. Tell your manager you deserve a pay rise ?”

“A lovely little thrift store that was logically laid out with helpful staff. Clothing is clearly labelled and organised by type and size. The sizes are also accurately displayed on the hangers which is a nice touch. A special thank you to Tony who took the time to chat and give my advice on what to see and do in Glasgow. You're a star!”

“Slim line version off a WHSmith. But stocks all the essentials you would expect from them. Magazines, bestselling books, sweets and drinks. Always quick service and staff are always pleasant - especially Chris.”

“The works is an Aladdin's cave of books, stationary, games and toys. In today's tough retail climate they have struggled and had to close some branches like my local in Rutherglen Mitchell Arcade shopping centre. They always have interesting bargains. Several times i have made purchases pertaining to my own little foible, Aircraft of WW2. At least, unlike the unfortunate Wilco they are still trading despite the economic downturn hard times?.”
