We stayed here for one night and booked the gourmet dinner experience and it was absolutely phenomenal!! Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but we also purchased the wine pairing with our meal and it was amazing! Our room was spectacular and one of the best parts was the incredible castle grounds and garden including the greenhouse Azalea room with beautiful renderings and artwork from local artists. The creeks and forest glen located on the property leave you feeling in awe at their stunning tranquil beauty and the castle itself makes one feel like they've stepped back in time. Truly amazing experience and hands down the best part of our entire week long trip through Scotland and Ireland. We saw just about every beautiful major tourist attraction you can think of, but Glenapp Castle and Ballantrae are the true hidden gems of Scotland. The most incredible part of our stay though was the staff. Each and every staff member was so friendly and accommodating and they made us feel like we were part of the family. It felt like we were coming home to enjoy a family gathering and not just staying in a beautiful castle. Ben is spectacular and absolutely precious. He is truly incredible at making you feel at home. I felt like we were best friends before we even met. He was our primary contact in arranging our stay and travel to the castle. He set up our beautiful scenic drive down from Glasgow with Graham who was top notch and was so accommodating with allowing us to enjoy and spend time on the multiple sight seeing stops along the way. Ben even prebooked us archery lessons with Mark who is hilarious an absolute Hoot! Jen is a rockstar and boss lady when it comes to making you feel immersed in the Glenapp experience. Iona, our dinner and breakfast guide was so incredibly sweet and David, our wine guru, has a true talent when it comes to selecting the most excellent wine pairings. We didn't meet the chef, but my goodness, the food was out of this world!!! The castle churns it's own butter and creates it's own fresh pressed juices and if I could have found a way to preserve a tub of that butter to take home, I most definitely would have. There is an on site florist who creates the most beautiful fresh flower arrangements daily from the castle gardens and greenhouse that she displays throughout the castle. Daniel gave us a tour of the entire castle and even let us go to the top roof to see the most amazing castle views. Paul, the owner, was also great and you can tell he cares about not only your Glenapp experience and getting to know you but also about his staff. I have Ben on speed dial for when we book our next stay because we are definitely going back with family and friends! If you are looking to experience the true beauty of Scotland - then Glenapp is the only place you have to go.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing an amazing wedding at this truly beautiful castle. Everything about the place is perfect. The location, the rooms, the food and the staff... to name but a few. If you're considering getting married here, I'd highly recommend.

Utilized it for afternoon tea. The castle's architecture is beautiful, and the surrounding scenery is breathtaking.

Location and the setting is fantasticTheir staff seemed to be a bit on the greener side (it?s possible they could be short staffed due to the holiday season when we were staying there)

Such a wonderful experience staying at Glenapp. All the staff were incredible, we were predominantly attended to by Jen, Alin and Daniel who were amazing, very attentive and nothing was too much of an ask. Thank you again.

What a wonderful experience. We were staying nearby at another 5 star hotel but friends recommended here for afternoon tea and it definitely doesn?t disappoint. This is a much smaller intimate and more personal experience than the larger nearby hotel and much better for it.The drive up through the gorgeous forest even on a day with horizontal rain was stunning. The setting is fabulous, the food was wonderful we even met our award winning pastry chef, needless to say then pastry?s we?re fantastic. The service from Jen who greeted us,to Abigail who served us was outstanding. The next time we stay in this area this will be our top choice.

Sadly a big disapointment compared to previous visit.Last visited in March 2022 and sadly things have gone significantly downhill since then. The room we stayed in haven?t been maintained well - cobwebs everywhere, carpets coming up and scuffs and mould in the bathroom. The service was also notably worse than previously. Staff often unsure of what they should be doing and forgetting things - for example we ordered juice with breakfast and half an hour later it still hadn?t arrived and had to ask again. Lots of inattention by staff - normal bread given to my partner who is coeliac and we had to request gluten free bread. Last time when ordering coffee to the room gluten free biscuits were supplied but nothing on this occasion. At breakfast he had ordered some yoghurt and enquired whether there was any gluten free granola - they brought out plain yoghurt and no offer of any alternative e.g. fruit that was on the menu.Dinner was by far the biggest let down. Previously there was a new menu each day. We stayed for two nights and it was the same limited menu for both nights which for £85 a head is pretty poor. It meant that my husband ended up eating the same things both nights. If we had known that the menu was going to be the same we would have eaten elsewhere. Food quality was also not as good as our last visit and ended up leaving half the food on our second night.Overall, very disapointed and can?t believe how much things have gone downhill since last year!

It has been a wonderful experience for me. The hotel has a heart capturing location, beautiful location, lots of history to be found, fine dining restaurant and the convivial and friendly staff is icing on the cake!Would definitely highly recommend it to everyone.
