Partners grandparents stayed here. Bar man was pleasant, very comfortable and cosy place, quiet and old time vibe. They said they had a nice big breakfast and enjoyed their 2 night stay.

While staying at The Bus Stop, we decided to venture out for dinner on our last night and we were not let down! The weather was beautiful so we sat in the beer garden, which was lovely, spacious and got the sun all afternoon/evening.The menu was full of great choice so we went for a starter and main each.I had the scallops for starter and John had the brie - absolutely delicious! We each shared a bit of each others and honestly, both were lovely!I had the Parma ham and chicken for main and John had the haddock - both excellent choices! The jus with the chicken was delicious - really complimented the dinner and the mustard mash was lovely!Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food we had and the staff were so lovely and friendly.Would definitely recommend!& dog friendly! But Fergus was too tired to eat!

Good rooms but a request to not leave things on charge when you're out of the room was a bit of a challenge. No servicing of the room during our stay.Cooked breakfast good, avoid toast or croissants = awful.Best thing may have been the wonderful lounge (good word for it) where you could relax with a book and a drink.

Very comfortable in room 20 very good shower over bath. Comfortable bed. Good size of room. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was a bit hectic no brown bread for toast and no marmalade though shop in village open seven days. Surely someone could have bought both there.

I stayed here with the intention of visiting the National Museum of Flight (Scotland). I arrived later than intended, & the kitchen was closed. I explained I was diabetic, & asked if there was anything I could have? For example, a ham sandwich. This was provided along with Diet Coke. The room was very nice and reminded me of my late grandparents' home. The receptionist was very helpful in ticking off the breakfast list for next day. I had difficulty in doing this due to Carpol Tunnel Syndrome. This makes it difficult for me to write. But the receptionist was very helpful. I would definitely go there again.

First impressions of the hotel via the reception at the bar was a friendly traditional hotel with a quaint interior, but on being shown to the room (number9) it was over furnished with too much free standing furniture for the size of the room and as a result was difficult to manoeuvre around the room. There was flaking paint and signs of black mould below the window. The sash window did not stay open and the secondary glazing did not do much to keep the exterior noise out. But the worst part was the night time noise. Our neighbour kept slamming his bathroom door all night and noise from the traffic outside and other noises from the corridor kept us awake for our two night stay. As a result my partner didn?t feel well enough to go down for breakfast on both mornings. The reception for breakfast on the second morning was very slow and eventually the chef came out and asked if I?d had my order taken. Eventually the staff member came out and when another couple came into the breakfast room and didn?t understand her asking what room they were in she raised her voice and sounded irritated as she asked again, which I thought rude. On checking out I rang the bell as no one was at the bar, then a member of staff walked right past me and went, I presume, to an office behind. I expected that he was fetching the day manager, but I waited another few minutes before going to the kitchen myself to ask if anyone was on reception to find a few staff members chatting. I could hear them from the bar so they must have heard the bell. When someone did come to check us out of the room she seemed grumpy and after printing out my receipt just said thank you and goodbye. There was no ?how was your stay?? As if she didn?t really care. I wish I?d paid attention to the few negative reviews on Trip Advisor, which are vastly outnumbered by glowing reviews. Not the friendly welcoming Scottish hospitality we have been used to. Would not recommend.

Dropped in while out for countryside drive. Very pleasant character of the building. Friendly staff and customers.Walkability: Nice place to stop off. Great coastal views from the nearby Lammermuir hills on the road to Duns. Nearby cycleways and railway walkway in Pencaitland and Ormiston.

I had a wonderful stay. It was clean and comfortable with friendly and helpful people providing service. And it is located in a lovely little town that was a pleasure to walk around in. I had booked it because I was visiting Edinburgh not realizing that it was not super close to the city but that was my mistake for not noticing that while booking. However, I found it a very easy to catch a bus from Gifford to Haddington and then to Edinburgh. And it was a very pleasant ride. Highly reccommend.
