Words cannot express how angry and disappointed I am with our stay at this hotel. I feel the need to share the painful experience my wife and I went through ? a trip that was completely ruined by this hotel, which continues to claim zero responsibility.
On July 3rd, I booked a double room through the Agoda platform, intending to stay here with my wife for two nights as we planned to hike on Paradise Island. I checked the photos of the double room on both Google Maps and Agoda before booking. The rooms shown were spacious and pleasant.
Then the nightmare began.
Upon check-in, we received our room key and opened the door ? only to be shocked by what we saw. The room was so tiny it?s hard to describe in words. There was barely any space to open our luggage, and my wife and I could hardly turn around inside the room. It was by far the smallest hotel room I?ve ever stayed in, and I paid £330 for it.
There was no shower area, just a bed, a tiny table barely worth mentioning, a wall-mounted TV, and a miniature window. That was it.
I immediately went to the front desk to report the issue, as this was completely different from what I booked. Their explanation? They claimed that Agoda was at fault, saying they had never worked directly with Agoda, and that Agoda had made the reservation through another third-party platform, resulting in the mismatch. In short, the hotel refused to take any responsibility.
However, my question is: If you do not work with Agoda, how did I manage to book your hotel on their platform in the first place? This clearly shows that the hotel must bear some responsibility, at the very least for failing to supervise how their property is listed and booked.
They should never have allowed such a misleading situation to occur.
In the end, we had no choice but to stay in that dark, narrow room for two full nights. On the second night, my wife got her period and was suffering from severe cramps. She desperately needed hot water, but the room provided no kettle or any means to heat water. She was in so much pain she started crying. At that moment, I could no longer hold back my frustration, and that?s why I?m writing this review.
I strongly believe this hotel should be held jointly responsible with Agoda for this experience. They must be accountable.
I will attach screenshots of my original booking as well as photos of the room we were actually given.
(For the record: I booked a double room, but what I received was a double cell.)

Disappointed with our stay ? not worth the price (Very expensive but NO ELEVATOR)
We booked one of the most expensive suites at The Garrison Hotel expecting a premium experience, but unfortunately, it was very disappointing.
Despite first to come to check-in and travelling with 2 kids and 4 big bags, we were given the last room on the second floor with no lift access ? requiring us to carry all our luggage up 35+ steps. The room was the farthest from reception, and nowhere near what you?d expect from a suite. On top of that, there was a bright green emergency exit light glowing all night, making sleep very difficult.
For the price we paid, this was nowhere close to the quality or comfort promised. The location is good, but the overall experience left us feeling let down. Definitely not recommended if you?re travelling with family or expecting a real suite experience.

The nicest rooms of any place we stayed in Scotland. Very cool décor. Very clean and everything was in great condition. Quiet rooms. On-site parking (limited number of spaces). Short walk to all the downtown shops and restaurants. Good breakfast.

Unfortunately I have to disagree with the statement that this is a four star hotel.
There is very limited parking - roughly 14 parking spaces on site for about double the amount of rooms. If you don?t arrive early you will need to park at a nearby car park about 2 mins away for £10 for 24 hrs.
Our room was very small, very little space to move around or put luggage. The furniture in the room took up a lot of space. The sink was creaky and toilets didn?t flush properly. Shower design wasn?t the best either and left the whole floor wet all the time.
On the positive side, the bed was very comfy, the hotel is a short walk to most of the restaurants in town and there is heated bathroom floor and robes. Just temper your expectations and don?t expect a true four star.

I stayed at the Garrison Hotel in Fort William while visiting the Glencoe area. The hotel rooms are spacious, there is limited onsite parking, and the included breakfast is pretty good. The hotel is also within walking distance of a lot of eateries and is not a long drive to Glencoe. However, I was repulsed by the housekeeping practices at this hotel. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles are secured to the shower walls. My first night there, I went to use the shampoo and it was RANCID. It smelled like rotten eggs. After quickly rinsing myself with the hand soap, I found both the shampoo and body wash were rancid. We contacted the front desk, they gave us new shampoo and soap in coffee cups, and said housekeeping would fix it the following day. However, the following day, I checked the shampoo and body wash bottles in our bathroom and housekeeping did not replace them. They just added more shampoo and soap to the already rancid bottles and the soaps were still completely unusable. Based on this experience, I would not recommend staying at the Garrison Hotel.

just so awesome! Bunk beds with shared bathroom is immaculately clean; no dogs roaming around thankfully, polite and incredibly friendly staff. Incredible common area to see the people walk by and free coffee 24/7. Super clean rooms. A+.

Name of Accomodation: The Garrison Hotel, Fort William, 19 June 2025.
Duration of stay: 1 night for 4 pax.
Driving direction: we drove from Isle of Skye to Glasgow. This is a mid way point for us to take a break.
Parking: limited outside parking. However, there is parking behind the hotel. If you booked a suite, there?s allocated parking lot for your room. There is one EV charging point right behind the hotel, at the last slot.
Hotel room: we got a suite room behind the lobby, in a separate building Our room is on level 3. There is no lift. If you have big luggages, you have to carry it up the stairs. Our suite room has a main room with twin bed, plus a sofabed for two at the living room. There?s a small kitchen. There is no aircon in the room. A small fan was provided. Bathroom is basic, with standing shower. The hot shower is a small control so you get warm water sometimes. Our room at level 3 overlooks the room from the main building. Sometimes we can see the movement of the people in their room. Our room is pet friendly which is really good for our dog.
Hotel Meals: there?s breakfast buffet available. There are also many eateries outside the hotel, full of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nearby places: In front of the hotel, it?s a sea off the west coast of Scotland. There are sightseeing boats that you can take to cruise around the area. There?s a cycling track that you can cycle around the coastal area. There is a train station 10min walk away from the hotel.
Pet friendly: Yes!
Overall, will i come back again? YES!

Wife and I loved the Garrison. The staff are nice, friendly, and helpful, and things in the room and showers just made sense. They got it right. Out of all the places we stayed in 2 weeks, The Garrison is in one of the top spots.
Breakfast was incredible, frankly. Book the breakfast.
The rooms are good to go, and the theme is fun and well done. But if you came off of the WHW or GGW totally soaked, you'll need to get creative to dry your gear. They'd be gods if they built a drying room.

The Garrison Hotel was a wonderful surprise. We loved our suite room, especially with our own assigned parking space. The best was comfortable and the suite was quite spacious. The included breakfast was FANTASTIC and the perfect start to our long days of hiking! Loved the location with plenty of great pubs, restaurants, and shops nearby but still nice and quiet at night. We can?t speak for the regular rooms but if you can splurge on a suite, we highly recommend it! We accidentally left behind wireless earbuds and a converter plug, which the hotel was willing to mail to us. Lovely service.

This hotel definitely needs refurbished. We booked a couple twins, the bathroom door wouldn't open all of the way because the bed was too close, the bathroom fan didn't work, there was mold in the shower and on the curtain. The room designs were weird, and they're not all alike. It's not an awful place to stay, however, for the price you have no air conditioning, mold in the shower, and with keeping the windows open it's very loud with a lot of riffraf outside. The elevator is conveniently right inside the entry, however if you want to take the stairs they are extremely difficult to navigate to the second floor. Great pizza though

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a great experience overall. The space was very clean and felt brand new, which made the stay comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, offering a variety of fresh options, and the service was attentive and welcoming. The hotel was easy to navigate, making it user-friendly, and having parking available was a big plus for those traveling with a car.
One of the standout features was its location?it was within walking distance to restaurants, yet far enough away to remain quiet and peaceful, ensuring a restful stay.
However, the rooms were quite small, which might not suit guests looking for more space. Additionally, there was no fridge, which could be inconvenient for storing drinks or snacks.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the cleanliness, service, and breakfast made it a pleasant stay!
