Took my mum for mothers day high tea. Staff exceptional, food delicious and despite taking boxes home we still rolled out of there! Amazing value for money

Lovely meal today but service was terrible. Plenty of staff and I wouldn't say they were busy but we waited nearly an hour for our meal then ordered dessert, 20mins later we were told - sorry chef has finished for the day. We had only ordered ice cream, its not like it needed cooked. They did give us a discount, but sorry, we won't be back.

Walled garden stunning. Hurry slowly around the beds and borders. Lots to enjoy, sights, sounds and smells. Gift shop free of tourist tat. Regret cafe not open at the time. Greenhouses held my interest.

Had an enjoyable visit to the gardens, but felt it wasn't quite worth the £9.50 entrance fee (at least not without a few improvements). It's advertised as dog friendly, which is great, but there were no bins on-site (not even for general waste) which we found out by asking where we could find one. Seems like an oversight that could be quickly remedied but we got the impression that nothing was being done about it. They did have water dishes in the outdoor cafe area however, but we didn't visit the cafe so can't comment on the food or service of this.
The shop is small but has a nice, albeit expensive, selection of things (they had muffins priced at £3.90 each!) and there was an area by the entrance of the garden where you could pick up produce from the garden to purchase which was a nice touch, but quite a few of the items were unavailable when we visited.
What puzzled us was offering 6 apples for £2.50 but there were only two small varieties to choose from - yet walking around the garden there were hundreds of apples of numerous varieties. I understand they use them for producing drinks to sell so likely can't offer this, but it would have been a really unique idea to have had the opportunity to pick one each of a few varieties (with the guidance/supervision of one of the gardeners) and paid for them accordingly.
I could see online/on google maps that there is a lake near the garden which I thought we'd be able to walk around but there was no signage for it so left slightly disappointed. I'm not sure how long the gardens have been open for, but it felt like it was lacking something to make it a more worthwhile experience, but hopefully they continue to make improvements and take any customer feedback onboard. It could be a great asset to the area with a little more thought.

This is a stunning and huge garden, incredibly well tended by the owners and only 3 other gardeners. It's an absolute joy and terrific credit to everyone involved in developing the planting and choice of wonderful colourful flowers, fruiting bushes and herbs and vegetables all being grown here. The restaurant uses the garden produce to produce delicious lunches. Go on a sunny day and be amazed.

Gardens are gorgeous, cafe was good but probably not at its best due to getting ready for a coach tour arriving. Bit chaotic compared to other visits! Cafe is a lovely place to sit in, very bright and airy. Nice wee shop too. Lovely afternoon out all round.

Had the sharing meat platter and was very underwhelmed, had to ask for more oat cakes as they only gave us one each (2). I did ask for more and to be fair they gave us an extra 2 each ( not sure if we were charged extra or not).

I have been a couple of times and usually have a great experience but went on Sunday and service and food was pretty poor.
I ordered the Cullen skunk which as always was delicious, however my mother had poached eggs on a muffin (we had to ask for a new one as eggs were solid and muffin was soggy and untoasted, second time it was better), I ordered my 16month old the meatballs (this arrived freezing cold and looked like it had been waiting for a while and then I discovered the meatballs were totally raw inside!! Completely unacceptable for a babies food! They did remake but after the wait my baby was really grumpy and hungry and no longer interested.
Service also was pretty poor with a main person rushing round being over the top and snappy to staff and the other girls very quiet and not checking on tables or clearing up very quickly (it wasn't full in restaurant)

Stunning - would strongly recommend if you're a fan of gardens, both floral and vege. There's play areas for kids plus cafe with good food. Staff are really knowledgeable about the plants and the owner is also often around to give history on the refurb..
Kid-friendliness: Great natural play area for kids.

Wonderful garden, worth visiting at different times of the year to catch the garden in the yearly cycle. Food in the café is tasty and plentiful
