Sad, tragic, but inspiring.Proof positive that we will push through the hardest of things in life.

Small in size bronze status but powerfull in the message about power of the sea and how weak we all are in the eyes of the nature. Bench for contemplation with the nice view of the sea.

Widows & Bairns is the name for this sculpture by Jill Watson.Four pieces were commissioned to recognise the disaster of 14 October 1881 (Black Friday) when 189 men and boys died when 26 of the 45 boat strong fishing fleet was wrecked. Only 19 boats returned. This left a lot of widows and bairns (children). There are pieces in St Abbs, Cove and Burnmouth each one depicts the correct number of widows and bairns left behind from each village. The Eyemouth sculpture is the largest featuring the most.
