Outstanding place, can?t believe I have never been before. But, I will definitely be back soon. Great coffee, great cake and lovely staff. Very biker welcoming with parking in view of the seating area.

Frosty reception from all staff in cafe . Very unwelcoming. Didn't have what I wanted on a sandwich they had run out and this was before 2pm ! Specials board too busy and very confusing. . Was ushered to 'salad bar' where there was only coleslaw and about 6 slices of cucumber which I don't eat. All in all not a great experience. Staff should visit The Waterwheel Cafe at Philiphaugh to see how a cafe should be run.with exceptional staff, delicious food and wonderful service . Will definitely NOT be returning.

We found this cafe on our coast to coast cycle. Having set off from Lockerbie , this seemed the perfect stop for a coffee break. We arrived at 9.50am, so 10mins before opening , so we decided to hang on. At 10am one of the staff members came to open up as we (along with a few others who had just arrived) waited to be let in. He simply unlocked the door then turned his back and walked away. Not the friendliest of welcomes. As we went to order, the same staff member told us we were nor to sit at any table which had reserved signs on them. All this before actually allowing us to order.
So unfortunate as actually this is a beautiful spot and the café is immaculate and the coffee and scones we had were amazing...shame about the hospitality..
Maybe he was just having a bad day.

Thanks to everyone at the Hub who helped organise and serve lunch for 9 visiting scientists from all over Europe. They were visiting Eskdalemuir Observatory and were made to feel welcome and enjoyed a lovely lunch. What a great show case the Hub is for all the interesting things happening in Eskdalemuir valley.

Found this cafe yesterday whilst on a drive. Fantastic atmosphere with a fire going and couches to sit on. Cafe food is lovely and well priced.
Extra parking across the road if needed as well.

Wow - what a gem hidden away in the Scottish countyside on the way from Carlisle to Edinburgh. A great place to stop for cyclists, walkers and drivers and clearly loved by the locals too. Super friendly staff, great food and plenty of seating inside and out.

Stopped while on a bike camping trip. Lovely cafe and shop. Very friendly. Had a tea and scone, cozy indoor seating and outdoor seating.
Scone and tea I believe was £4.50.
Perfect location!
Parking: It?s near the path that goes along several standing stone sites and other attractions, across from the cafe.
Kid-friendliness: They have an inclusive playground. I?m not sure how to rate it as I?ve no experience. I thought it was wonderful that they had it.
Wheelchair accessibility: They have an inclusive playground. I?m not sure how to rate it as I?ve no experience. I thought it was wonderful that they had it.

A wonderful stop for 2 wet cyclists on our LEJOG leg from Langholm to Peebles. We enjoyed hot soup and coffee while our bikes sheltered undercover in the bike shed that includes a pump, e bike charging, drinking water and bike locks. With limited services on our journey north, we bought lunch to takeaway too. Great facilities and delightful staff.

Absolutely charming and dellghtful cafe, shop and village hub. We only had coffee and cake, which were very good and very well priced, compared to every other coffee shop we have been in recently. It's got an interesting shop and the staff are kind and helpful. Eskdale is beautiful and stands comparison with other British beauty spotsThis is a great example of what every community in Britain should have
