Fabulous hotel with a great bar and good options. Beautiful since it's refurb. Spa on site too, didn't visit this time but it was always a great spa.

We went for the twilight spa package. Was so relaxing. The spa area was so clean and the facilities were fantastic. Nicola was super helpful and make it a lovely experience!

I was at a wedding and everything was organised to perfection which made it a fabulous day.

The refurbishment is beautiful, the staff are welcoming and the service is efficient without being intrusive. The grounds are gorgeous and I can't wait for a few sun umbrellas to be added to the garden tables (I had a client meeting on the hottest day in Scotland and had to sit inside, typical). I wasn't as impressed with the tiny cheese salad for lunch but that might be what I chose or the way it was presented. It did taste lovely but it didn't feel fitting for the surroundings or showcase the chefs skills, who I assume work super hard behind the scenes. Overall, I'll definitely be back.

Situated on the banks of the Clyde, it's a stunning location, on a sunny day.
I've been to the hotel several times but recently, the entire experience is much improved.
The meals we had, dinner and breakfast, werer very good.
The room we had was extremely spacious and comfortable.
The service was friendly and professional.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Paid 400£ a night for a junior suite, came in first day to book the spa for a treatment (booked a spa restort for spa amenities) nothing was available. They were booked out a week in advance. I think they should have a disclaimer stating that you should book online prior. Not impressed

First time visiting since the renovation. Want to give a special mention to Emily, who despite having only started a week and a half ago, was very knowledgeable about everything and went more than above and beyond to show us the new facilities and ensure we had a great experience. No doubt we will back, thanks in large to her.

The location is beautiful and the recent refurbishment of the hotel has made a massive difference however, the room we were provided wasn't how it was described on booking.com or Marhalls website it only had a walk in shower and no bath. The bathroom door lock didnt work as they clearly hadn't finished fitting it, as part of refurbishment, there was also an exposed pipe under the dressing table and a hole under one of the windows which you can see through to outside. For a 5 star hotel you would expect better standards to be met. The gallery is ideal for afternoon drinks however staff weren't as attentive as you would expect for a 5 star hotel. The dining room for dinner is beautiful however there seems to an issue with flies and fruit flies which can be off-putting. The waitress that we had was very informative and she was attentive. The food at dinner was okay, the spicy raw beef was unique as this is prepared at your table to your taste. The chateaubriand was tender and delicious. The desserts however were a let down as the pasty for the tarte tatin was slightly stale and the chocolate souffle was slightly burnt. The breakfast was disappointing, we both had the full breakfast and items were cold or overcooked. The continental breakfast was not to a high quality. The yoghurt is not being kept cool, this should be in a bowl over ice. The cheese and meats were basic and limited. The fresh juices were fine apart for the pineapple juice is split and could do with staff checking this. The waiting staff at breakfast left alot to be desired after we received our breakfast not one member of staff checked on our table. When leaving the dining room not one goodbye or pleasantries exchanged despite 4 members of staff at the bar within the room, which is shame as small touches of have a nice day make all the difference. The consierge and porter on our arrival were brilliant, very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the same could not be said on our departure apart from the young boy who was a porter. Despite the refurbishment, the staff are not up to a five star hotel standard. Throughout our stay we witnessed a lack of attentiveness in the gallery/ grand hall with afternoon teas. These small touches need to be in place for a hotel to boast a 5 star standard and right now it is the staff letting down the beautiful hotel.

I had a spa stay with my daughter to celebrate her 30th birthday and had the best experience from start to finish.
We were treated to a fabulous upgrade and enjoyed the very best service from all staff. The friendliest team.

The recent renovation at Mar Hall has been carried out with great care and taste. The public areas, rooms, and suites now feel fresh, elegant, and comfortable. A particular highlight is the beautifully maintained garden and inner courtyard, where guests can relax outdoors in a peaceful atmosphere ? a real asset in good weather. However, parts of the property are still under renovation, which slightly detracts from the overall experience.
The spa is well-equipped and pleasant, but the presence of many external gym members diminishes the sense of exclusivity typically expected at a resort of this category.
Service across the property is warm and attentive. A special mention goes to Alan at the concierge desk ? his dedication and professionalism stand out and significantly enhance the guest experience.
That said, service at the bar and restaurant is inconsistent. While the staff are well-meaning, many lack basic training ? difficulties carrying multiple plates or properly presenting food were not uncommon. Moreover, food quality varied dramatically: a dish served perfectly one evening could be poorly prepared the next, which was disappointing and suggests a lack of consistency in the kitchen.
Breakfast is not on par with expectations. The buffet is small, lacks healthy options, and offers little variety. The à la carte menu is limited and inflexible. A simple request for an omelette ? despite not being on the menu ? was bluntly rejected with, ?We don?t do omelettes here.? This level of rigidity is highly unusual in a hotel of this standard.
Overall, I was noticeable that management wasn?t present throughout our stay. This would probably be needed in order to elevate service and food quality to the next and actually needed level.
In summary: Mar Hall has the foundation of a truly great hotel ? thanks to its stunning setting, successful renovation, and a few standout team members. However, it still needs improvements in staff training and culinary consistency to fully meet luxury expectations.

We used to visit Mar Hall often, but in recent years felt that there was an overall decline.
On the basis of new owners, we were excited to visit once again and we were not left disappointed. From the minute we walked into the hotel, we were met by engaging reception team members who all offered a lovely welcome.
The hotel has the perfect blend of team members who have been there for a long time with some new members who have recently joined - special mention to the gentleman who served us in the Slaite bar - his passion for Mar Hall was impressive. We dined at in the 'Dining Room' and were met with exceptional service from Zac...what a fine young man and a real asset to the team. Our meal was beautiful, as were the views from the restaurant across the River Clyde. We had breakfast in our room, but also had a lovely chat with Dayna from the breakfast room.
The new investment into the hotel is clear to see, stunning decor and we loved the interior design of our room and bathroom. The bedroom was spotlessly clean. There is a fresh new vibe about the hotel and from what we hear much more to come to make it even better.....highly recommend giving it a try! We will be back.

Just celebrated our daughter's wedding at the lovely Mar hall and stayed over a couple of nights . It is a beautiful and stunning hotel with glorious views over the clyde and surrounding hills . The staff are all amazing and were very friendly and accomodating from the moment we arrived. They all went above and beyond to ensure our stay and reception were just as planned and ran smoothly. Our sincere thanks to one and all and would make special praise to Samantha , Daniel, Chris and Vicki for there professionalism and caring attitude to our every needs . The food and golfing experience were also exceptional and would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

An absolutely incredible afternoon tea, the service is excellent full of genuine acknowledgement and care, the pastries delicious, apricot scones, sandwiches without tons of added herbs. Refurbishment is beautiful. Well done ?
