Had the most delicious meal here recently with family. The girls who were serving were absolutely brilliant, running their buttons off, as they were very busy. Everyone enjoyed their food choices too. A wee bit cramped, but we are big people, and lots of us. Hope to revisit soon.

Been here for food a few times and it's always excellent, the foid and the service. They serve gluten free macaroni which is never available when I eat out so that alone is worth 5*! It old fashioned/traditional inside and so is cosy and comfortable. Its usually busy so best to

We were last here in 2019 and thought it was a lovely and cosy place. Definitely a disappointment today. The staff didn?t make us feel welcome at all and the service in general wasn?t great. The food was edible, but the immensely over boiled carrot and neep, with hard, squeaky green beans was a struggle. Sadly we won?t be back.

A midweek treat. Steak night at the 'View' is quite something, definitely book ahead. Shared a starter of Chicken liver pate, just a wee suggestion, melba toast would be better and h/m sauce please, otherwise excellent. We had to have steaks, so a rump and a rib eye were ordered m rare. Both steaks were cooked to perfection, maybe a longer rest could have helped as they cut easier as we ate. Home made chips are such a treat these days, but great to see..Pepper sauce added a kick of flavour. Really struggled to finish the meal and a pudding was impossible. Despite the restaurant being packed, the service was exceptional and food served in good time. Great range of real ales are available, Scapa was the choice tonight. Great to see a wee country pub in deepest Aberdeenshire doing so well.

A hidden gem of a place. Stopped in for lunch when dropping a pony off- easy parking across the road for lorry. Specials were all tempting - absolutely delicious food and very friendly staff. If we are passing we will definitely be back.

Right, I'll start this by saying that myself and my 2 workmates are staying in a house nearby because we are working nearby so we have used this establishment for our tea the past 3 evenings after work. The food is very very good, the steaks are nice and worth every penny and aren't expensive at all.The waitresses that have served us each evening have been fantastic, professional, and very polite. These are the positive pointsNow for the BIG NEGATIVE which has let the whole place down. The manager's girlfriend who seems to run the show needs some customer service training because of her attitude towards one of my friends this evening.Apparently last night SHE charged my friend for a single JD when he had a double. Now he didn't realize this as we paid for our meals and drinks at the end of the evening yesterday. So after we went to pay our bill this evening to the girl who served us all evening, she, the manager's girlfriend approached my friend by leaning over the bar and said to him "You only paid for a single and not a double last night so I'm adding it onto your bill this evening". The place was busy and it was very embarrassing for my friend as people were looking. He said he didn't realize, as he paid his bill as a whole last night. So she grunted, "Well you should have told me you had a double, I'm not psychic".We settled up the bill and left, feeling very humiliated and embarrassed especially as it's down to the staff to charge the correct price, plus there are other ways of bringing the situation forward rather than the bullish ignorant way that she approached the situation. It's an awful shame because everything about our experience over the past 3 evenings was fantastic but this single one thing has let the whole experience down. We've been spending £80+ per night in there on food and drinks but we will be taking our custom elsewhere, all thanks to the Managers Girlfriend.

I usually go for the excellent battered fish with chips and peas but Mixed Grill was back on the menu. It too was extra special. I am glad I didn't have a starter as I didn't have room for even a small sweet. First class service as ever and a lovely log fire.Went to the steak night tonight. £12 for an excellent rib-eye with all the trimmings. Just the best!

Booked this hotel for the specific trip to photo Red Squirrels, Upon arrival Jay, his staff and the locals all made me welcome. Conversation flowed and the Talisker Whiskey tasted divine. Jay took time out to show me some red Squirrel hot spots, even getting out a OS map to point out the exact location. Once talking to customers it was soon apparent that the area was the right place to see this fascinating creatures. Early door adventures out to the woods did not disappoint, as long as you were quiet ( portable hide and seat) they came within 2 meters of you and simply got on with their day. Back at the hotel, the room was basic (yet had everything you would require - TV, Coffee, Tea (even Twix bar), very tidy and smelled very clean; the linen was nice to sleep on and the bed reasonably comfortable too. I was the only one staying over that weekend, however there was a special coach party in to support the local football field charity so the bar and restaurant was very busy. I retired early that night and Im pleased to say that the double glazing and distance away from the main bar area meant there was little noise coming in to the bedroom.. I fell asleep and slept like a log. Jay and his team support the local community and have helped them to gain access to some fabulous recreational facilities such as football field, Cricket pitch and even a bowling green. I wish them well and will be back again to take more pictures of the little and getting rare Red Squirrels. Thank you
