This review involves the restaurant. The staff was quite friendly and we had no issue making a booking for a Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm.I mentioned that I had a food allergy to paprika and suddenly the menu became limited to just a few options. That was quite disappointing to me, as I had not encountered such limited options in any of the other restaurants where we ate over a 2 week period. The fact that the Buchan Hotel restaurant had such limitations makes me feel that much of the food is not made fresh. Paprika can be in broth based food, but otherwise, is generally used as a garnish that can easily be eliminated when made fresh.I ended up choosing the small version of the Sunday Roast with the pork, as the chicken option was depleted. My pork was cold, which did concern me, as I had no idea how long the food had been sitting out with it being a Sunday Roast that began around noon time. As a result, I ended up eating the vegetables, and left quite disappointed with my meal.Our dinner was on Sunday, 17 Sept.

Overall nice hotel and nice people, but there was one HUGE problem with my stay. The shower water smelled HORRIBLY like...sewage or something rotten. My hair smelled absolutely disgusting two weeks even tough I washed it many times.Please, dear hotel staff, fix this issue.

My room was noisy and i found it difficult sleep, in 2023 you would expect double glazing to help reduce the road noise (room 115), i left early as i had a long drive, 3 hours sleep if that prior to checking out, shower took forever to heat up, bathroom window would not open or close. Evening meal was mediocre and bland, thankfully it was only a very short stay, i doubt my company will book this hotel again, it needs a full refurb to bring it up to todays standards. Staff were ok.Noteworthy details: The whole place is in urgent need of refurb.

We are eight friends out for a Sunday walk along by the river. We ended a beautiful walk with coffee and scones all around.Friendly and professional staff.Well decorated and clean accommodation.Walkability: There are several local walks close by.Local shopping within walking distance

Having travelled a significant distance and hoping to get lunch we were very disappointed to be told that they stopped serving lunch 15minutes before we arrived despite their own website saying they served food all day which was something we specifically checked! Don?t rely on the hotels website as it?s wrong! Has put us off going back!

We used to visit Buchan hotel for a carvery quite often before covid hit and it was always enjoyable. We decided to make the trip out and went in for a Carvery today. Overall it was ok. We arrived, got our table and drinks orders. We opted for the carvery. Offer was beef or pork, I asked for both. It is all served for you now, don?t get to help yourself to any part of it so you just have to take what you get. Got 1 slice of each meat, 1 pig in blanket and a yorkshire pudding. The vegetables consisted of a couple of different medleys, one with green beans, tenderstem broccoli and leeks, and one with carrots, parsnips and Pickled onions (but weird) Roast tatties, boiled tatties, skirlie, gravy and spiced veg purée. Overall the food tasted nice and was enjoyable. Didn?t really understand what the point in having a carvery was if it?s plated for you, may as well just order and it get plated in the kitchen. Atmosphere felt a bit tense, there was more staff than customers with 6 or 7 staff all standing just waiting for something to do which made it feel a little awkward. Service was fine but just felt tense. Overall food was nice enough but wouldn?t say we will rush back for a plated for you carvery. We never ordered any desserts, desserts were priced at £7.25 each, so for the 2 of us that would have added on another £14.50 to the bill. Which for 2 plated carverys and 2 juices it came to £37.90 as it was. We weren?t made aware of any deals that most other carvery?s have like 2 courses for a set price so that?s why we just left it. When going to pay the 2 guys at the bar area did look at us then walk away leaving us standing there looking around until one of the ladies came over and took payment.
