A wonderful place for a retreat. Benedictine monastery nestled in the most peaceful place!

My wife and I experienced our 1st Latin Mass here. We're new converts to the Catholic faith. On holiday from Kansas. Father Giles was kind enough to give us a tour. It was an event I will never forget and I will make sure to visit the Benedictine Monestery in Kansas soon.

We make a point of coming here every time we're up this way, the monks are all lovely and friendly.
It's set in a beautiful area. No doubt we'll be back when up this way again.

Nestled away, this beautiful monastery just appears from nowhere on the small road leading up to it!
I can't emphasise the effect on your senses that this tranquil setting will have on you.
I will definitely be back, hopefully for a longer stay.

Visiting Elgin Abbey was not a plan. I was looking for fabric store to buy tartan for quilt, Got what I need then we went to Abbey, because Elgin museum was closed. It was very good visit , the weather was good the abbey itself has lots history. Took lots picture , the gift shop was small but able to buy a few things. Ceramic thimble that was my treasure ! it was good visit.

I loved my time here. The monks were friendly and welcoming. I attended the vigils, lauds, prime, terce, mass, sext, none, vespers, and compline, from 04:30 - 20:00. I spent the whole day
here, and it was an amazing experience. They have benches to sit at, bins, toilets, free parking, a shop, information boards, a visitor centre, and the building itself is a marvel. They also do retreats where you can come here and stay.

Super cool abbey, visited this late on a week night and there was absolutely nobody there but the residents. You can enter until 8pm although it looks like you can't. Monks were singing when we entered. The building inside is great for pictures.

This is truly a holy place of quiet reflection and closeness to God, no matter your faith. Deepest thanks to Father Giles, Father Simon, Philip Chatfield and fellow retreatants who made my stay with my son in December a deeply happy and memorable experience filled with stimulating conversation on everything from medieval cartography, faith to antiquity and sculpture. Pluscarden has a tranquil almost serene and majestic Hogwarts vibe to it and the monks are wise, and humble and yet have an aura about them like Gandalf or Dumbledore! I was truly happy here.
