I?m really disappointed with the level of knowledge shown by the staff at Pets at Home. On multiple occasions, there has incorrect or misleading advice about how to properly care for animals?particularly regarding housing, diet, and general welfare needs. It?s clear that some employees mainly a certain guy that is quite often at the fish section lacks proper training when it comes to animal welfare, which is incredibly concerning given the influence their advice can have on new or inexperienced pet owners.
Misinformation like this can have serious consequences for the wellbeing of pets, and it's unacceptable from a company that claims to care about animals. I hope Pets at Home takes steps to better train their staff, as this is not just a customer service issue?it's a welfare issue.
Since first writing this review we had decided to give pets at home in Elgin 1 more go today but they still just don?t have any real knowledge of fish they keep giving out incorrect information that is an massive welfare issue, was in today to buy fish for a tank that has been set up for just over a month the water is all ready and been getting checked regularly to make sure it was ready so we went in found the small fish that we wanted and then was told no you can only have 3 max of the tiny we had asked for 10 which for the type of fish that we asked for was a much more appropriate amount due to them been communal fish in 3s they would not last, the staff need to go on a lot more training or TBH just stop doing fish there, also side not about every time I?ve been in a could at least count 1 dead fish it?s just appalling that that can?t even keep the fish alive and we customers are expected to take there advice absolutely not.

Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They know facts about what they are selling. This is a better branch than the Inverness one with ignorant and discriminatory staff.

Really like this place they have a huge selection on everything, from the very small to the biggest pet's, if you have any questions or worries the staff will help you with everything they can, the staff are so helpful and friendly you get a good vibe, if you can pop in and see what they have.

Yeah they had stock was okay I'm used to a much bigger one but for it's size it does cater for a lot of animals and varieties of food brand treat brand etc

Always very helpful & pleasant staff. Only complaint is that when I wanted to get Flea Treatments for my 4 cats & dog there was nobody working who was qualified to dispense it and I had to make a return visit the next day.

Plenty of good options but for some pet options I would always recommend looking up online what is best for your pet needs before buying anything at this store but the ease for the basics is what pets at home does best
