It?s a crying shame how this beautiful outer building - once a great hotel - is now such a low quality, scruffy B&B.The only saving grace is the lovely, happy welcome from the lady serving breakfast (thank you).Have stayed here numerous times over the last 15 years but never again. Please avoid.Rooms: Stained carpet, tired / marked furniture, peeling walls and musky smell.Also no en-suite bathroom (?!?!). Just awful.(note: they do subtly mention a private bathroom, but do not highlight that you need to leave your room and walk down a corridor? beware!!!)

The hotel's exterior and interior are gorgeous, making you feel like you're in a fairyland.It's within walking distance to High Street and close to a large supermarket, so it's convenient for staying multiple nights.

It was looking nice when we booked it. A nice castle in a park in the north of Scotland. But what a bad surprise when the reception announced us that we are the Lodge at the entrance of the park, bathroom outside our room :(. And it was awful, dirty, and old. The restaurant was closed and only the breakfast was

Stayed for one night. Lovely grand building. The restaurant was closed for evening meals so we went to Tesco which is next door. for nibbles and sat on the hotel terrace overlooking the river and had drinks from the bar. Our room was number 4 and I couldn?t fault it. Lovely pillows, big bed. The bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was perfect. Nice pit of coffee too. All in all a lovely night stay. I would return for sure.

Terrific looking building and wonderfully friendly staff. Great location for exploring Elgin. Sadly, the hotel is a little tired and faded. The furnishings now look a long way past their best and the restaurant has had to close for evening meals due to lack of staff. We did still get a splendid Full Scottish cooked breakfast. Our room had a gigantic sleigh bed which was marvellous and a similarly big room to put it in. But there were lots of little things wrong with it - the sash windows were very dirty, there?s no fridge or coffee machine, the shower hose was broken, the sink leaked, the grouting between tiles had disintegrated and the extractor fan went on for 17 minutes after switching the light off! Most disappointing was that we?d told the hotel when booking was that we were returning here for our 30th wedding anniversary after honeymooning here. But there was no acknowledgment of this at all. No flowers, no card, nothing. I don?t expect champagne or chocolates or anything extravagant like that but a simple congratulatory message on arrival would have been nice. But no, it was completely ignored.

It?s hard to say it was bad, just meh. We stayed here 20-odd years ago and it was buzzing with staff and residents. This time it was like a ghost hotel run by less than skeleton staff - I only saw one person. After he checked us in at reception, we never saw one human being during our one night stay. There is a wee notice in reception stating there is no evening restaurant service and they can recommend restaurants in Elgin. I can see this has niggled other people. However we were visiting friends. We needed an early start in the morning and so we missed out on breakfast too. An 8am start for breakfast is a bit late for a hotel? Anyway it?s such a shame for such a plush and magnificent building. I hate to say this place is in need of something like Best Western to take over and invest in it. We will stay elsewhere in future I think.

The Mansion House is a wonderful place to stay in Elgin. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. The breakfast is fantastic. The Mansion is charming and in a great location. I highly recommend it.

A very nice stylish Manor house close to the town, with a supermarket pretty much next door.Stayed one night for work purposes, had a very relaxing stay and a quiet nights sleep. Breakfast was spot on, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. This is also first hotel I've stayed at which provided hot plates. ( I swear by piping hot food )Overall I would definitely recommend. Well done guys!Rooms: Posh and quietNearby activities: The town was very close by, with plenty of things to see.Walkability: Within walking distance of the townFood & drinks: Piping hot breakfast, freshly made.

The Mansion is stunning architecturally. Inside it is a little worn and does require a little touching up. Nothing modern but simple touch up, carpet & paint. Beds are comfy but getting into the tub is suicidal. The floor slopes down quite a bit so be warned. The staff is great and friendly. The breakfast is delicious. Only real is issue is the time staff is available. I needed a tow at 7.30 am no staff was around even after ringing the bell. After 10pm the staff is gone and no one is around so you feel like your creeping around someone's home.Side note, the location is beautiful, but don't mind the apartment buildings next door.
