Came here Christmas time last year for lunch and was instantly impressed with the big and beautiful space. Everyone is so nice and overall it was a great experience. We started with the cheddar gougeres and their shrimp dish which is served fully shelled. They recommend eating it this way but it really just wasn?t my style. The grilled mussels were great and so was the duck breast. Between the two desserts the creme brulee style one was the clear favorite. The other one I didn?t enjoy so much. Would love to come back and give the food another chance as it wasn?t one of the most memorable meals we had in Edinburgh food wise.

It was a really nice experience to eat dinner at Timberyard. The decor is nice, tables are far from each other, so you have your privacy.
The food was unique and tasty.
Vegetarian options: The restaurant offers vegetarian , vegan, and pescatarian options. They were very accommodating with any dirt restrictions.

Just wow. A sheer delight with surprises at every turn. We opted for the softs pairing, fully expecting commercially produced drinks, every drink was handcrafted by the timber yard team, just wonderful. The service team are super attentive but also discrete. The food is something else. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Fantastic dinner experience. Came here for our anniversary and was worth every second and penny. Staff satisfied our curiosities, explained all the dishes, walked us through our options, and the food? My goodness, it was superb. Can?t say enough good things about this place. Have dined at Michelin started restaurants in the past, including this very week. This was all of the splendor and none of the pretentiousness. Perfect (except it was a tad loud, but that?s nitpicking.)

We attended the restaurant during our visit to the Edinburgh Festival under the reservation of Brian Smith . Our waiter was both professional and personable with a welcoming warmth. The service was impeccable with attentive detail. We had the tasting menu which drew upon fresh local ingredients with thoughtful and imaginative presentation. However my favourite was the complimentary teabag offered on departure made from foraged Highland hedgerows.

I can?t say enough great things about this restaurant. The food was phenomenal and the staff were so attentive, kind and unpretentious. We celebrated my mom?s 70th birthday here by doing the full tasting menu and wine pairing. Everything exceeded our expectations! Do yourself a favor and eat here while you?re in Edinburgh!

This is BY FAR the best dining experience I've ever had. Service, food and ambience was top notch. Pricey, but we'll worth it.

Of all the several dozens of Michelin 1 Star restaurants I have tried, Timberyard is one of my top 3 favorites. Every course is a good surprise. If you are there, try their full tasting menu.

Fantastic food and service. Worth it

Food was great, albeit a little small for a three course lunch - looked like same portions for seven course tasting menu. Service was impeccable. Shabby chic ex-timber yard building seems to hit exactly the right ambience. Overall, a fine experience.

Wow, I'm 58 years old and I have to say that the way they cook is one of the best I've ever tried. The service is discreet but 10! I hope I can come back! Congratulations. You deserve the second team star.

Had this restaurant booked for a table for 2. Other member came down with an illness, and advised restaurant we had to cancel our booking first thing in the morning for that evening.
I also advised we?d be rebooking our seat when we returned to the city on the near future.
Edinburgh was at its busiest with high season, and three major events going on but restaurant said they will charge a 100 pound cancellation fee as they wouldn?t be able to fill the table.
I get that they have policies, but a promise to rebook, particular circumstances, and the busiest tourist season of the year I figured they could offer a bit more compassion.
Just out of curiousity, I called the restaurant 30 minutes prior to my original reservation and was told that seats were fully booked for the evening.
With that greed and lies about not being able to fill the table, I will not be back. I hope the 100 pounds today was worth more than the several hundred they would have received from our party next month
