First time visiting here after reading good reviews. However the food was very disappointing. My partner and I with friends from Australia and Canada were most disappointed. Wrong order served to one person. Food was lukewarm . I had the haggis needs and tatties and apart from the haggis it was very bland. Loved the interior and staff were efficient however the food was very disappointing

Had very little choice .. run out of dishes .. virtually nothing for vegans .. run out of thick chips .. sticky table .. very disappointing

Lovely solo lunch at The Granary!
I stopped by The Granary in Edinburgh for a solo lunch and had the beef burger ? it was absolutely delicious and cooked just right. The staff were warm and welcoming, and I felt totally at ease even dining alone. A big thank you to Nichole, who was especially friendly and made the experience really enjoyable. I?d definitely come back again!

Booked a table for 3, but none had been reserved, so we ended up on a small table in the middle of the bar. There is a restaurant part. 2 tables for 4 had 1 person each on them. And not the greatest welcome. Food took forever. We were told 2 mins before it arrived that the kitchen was backed up, but we saw other tables that had ordered after us get there's before ours. Cauliflower main and haggis main lovely but fish and chips was not. Most chips over cooked and inedible and fish also over done. Considering you're in leith with all around you serving fish dishes dissapointing. No one checked back with us. We sat for a long time with dirty plates. One of the tables for 4 people was freed up, so we moved. No one noticed. Ended up only 1 person doing the whole bar area. Music playing was sometimes not the best for dining.

On a recent visit I asked for a vodka and tonic . The mixer tap was not pouring correctly and I ended up with tonic/ lemonade mixed together. I returned the drinks and the barmaid rectified the situation. She then sought the help of a woman sitting at a table eating a meal opposite the bar.
Her reaction was to throw her food down onto the plate and say (am I not getting any time to eat today!) She then walked out of the bar area. I assume to fix the problem.
If you are the manager may I help you address how you should have reacted-
Oh that seems odd .Sorry for this I will check it out. I hope you got your drinks replaced that you PAID for. I reckon you will find it hard to keep your staff if you talk to them with this attitude!

This was our first time in Edinburg and the Granary at 32-34 shore, Leith was absolutely wonderful. I had the pork rib with root vegetables and it was much like good old German cooking with a wonderful sauce. The desert was a cheese cake with a mango/ pineapple sauce. The beer was also outstanding. Sat outside in the evening sunshine and enjoyed the surroundings.

Table service doesn't exist. The lone bar staff / waitress (longish blond hair, young and pretty if the management would like to know) I spoke to after waiting around 15 minutes and asked if there is table service replied there is table service if I want. So I said yes please. Got a menu, sat down and after 20 minutes she emerged... to serve someone else. Who arrived later. Bizarre - I suppose I could've ordered at the bar. 35 minutes wasted. Left. Looks fancy. But it's dive bar after all.

Excellent fish and chips.
However, dark scam for tourists. When we booked via their website, an offer appeared, "two courses £19". When we place an order, we ask for more information about this offer we booked with. The waitress pretends not to understand, says that the site often glitches and that she can't help us, that she will ask her colleagues. Our order arrived and no one kept us informed. We therefore paid in the end without this famous offer which had been active for a few days during our visit. No word regarding this offer, no gesture on their part, as if nothing had happened.
It's a shame to lure customers with offers and pretend not to understand what they are about. Their site is bug-free, it is very well done and updated (the offer is dated, it is valid during the month of October).
For poor tourists like us, I seriously recommend this restaurant. The food was good, but the feeling of being taken for idiots was very unpleasant.
