Pain free way to hand off some spare IT equipment from our digital agency, knowing that it will be reused and not just end up in the landfill. Closely aligns with our environmental goals and happy to support local.

Bought a refurbished PC from the Edinburgh Remakery, and the computer works perfectly. While I am delighted with my purchase, my most fulsome praise must be reserved for the quality of service provided. From the time I received the email confirming my order, the machine was delivered to my doorstep in less than two hours. My local Chinese restaurant can beat this time, but only on a quiet night.

We dropped off a batch of old PCs, some phones, drives and wires which they recondition or recycle within Scotland. Such a great initiative to avoid technology ending up in landfill. My partner took the stuff in, so I'm not sure how accessible it is, and I know they can't help unload, so if you're a wheelchair user or have reduced mobility, it's best to go with someone else if you have a lot of stuff to drop off. Very friendly and helpful staff so do ring them in advance to make sure they can accept whatever you wish to recycle.

I donated 2 old work laptops and made use of the tech secure disposal service. The process was simple, the staff/ service was excellent and the waste transfer and secure system wipe certificates came by email within a couple of days. Highly recommend this service - and you are contributing to a social enterprise too.

I would highly recommend The Edinburgh Remakery. I arranged for them to collect some redundant IT equipment from our office. They were very quick to respond to my initial enquiry and offered me the option to drop the kit off at their shop in Ocean Terminal or a free of charge collection. I opted to wait a few weeks for the collection and they arrived on the date promised and collected the kit with no issues at all. A few days later I received a Waste Transfer Note for the kit. Overall I have been impressed with this friendly and reliable service. It is reassuring to know the items are being repurposed rather than going to landfill. Thank you for all the good work you are doing for the environment.

The shop accepts electronics (e.g. laptops, tablets, phones). Some of them get fixed and resold. The rest get recycled. They do not accept electricals (e.g. toasters, light bulbs). While they accept donations from the community, the shop is not run as a charity shop. It is a small business devoted to saving electronics from landfill. Hence, items that they cannot make money from or that they cannot fix are recycled rather than ?saved?. A portion of the proceeds go towards charity. In my opinion, it is best to only donate to them broken electronics that they can fix, save from landfill and make money from. If you have working electronics, it?s better to donate it to a charity such as People Know How.

Micheal Laurie Architects are delighted to assist The Edinburgh Remakery in their ambition to support the community and recycle IT equipment. We will recommend this service to our colleagues in other practices.

We have bought two PCs from The Edinburgh Remakery. This first gave excellent service for very little outlay and lasted several years. When we needed a replacement we went back to The Remakery and bought another PC with a monitor. We are pleased with both. Being concerned to recycle as well as save money, The Edinburgh Remakery ticks both boxes. I highly recommend them.

Never too old to learn new tricks!! Plenty of opportunities to learn how to fix your own stuff, invaluable!
