Very quaint, downstairs hasn't got a wide range on the menu, but much more upstairs.

Cozy pub with character, friendly service, and delicious food
What a great find! This pub has real charm ? a warm and cozy interior with authentic details that immediately set the mood. You can genuinely feel that you?re in the oldest gastro pub in the city, and in the best possible way ? full of character and history.
The staff were fantastic: super friendly, helpful, and everything was served quickly with a smile. You feel welcome right away.
And the food? absolutely delicious! The shepherd?s pie was full of flavour and perfectly hearty. The haggis balls starter was a surprising highlight ? definitely worth trying. And don?t miss the sticky toffee pudding for dessert ? simply amazing.
It?s a popular spot, so it?s definitely a good idea to book a table in advance.
A place you?d happily come back to ? for the atmosphere, the people, and the food. Highly recommended!

We had dinner and then took our drinks to the pub downstairs for live music. The food is good and service excellent but the live music was our favorite part. The only comment I have is the food is on the expensive side.

Lovely restaurant, but put a little bit more attention to the food.
The fries were overcooked
The fish was good
And I missed a little bit of decoration.
Decorate the plates a little more excitingly.
Friendly staff.
That's why I haven't taken any photos of the food.

Popped in for a quick beer on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. The beer was very good and the young lady behind the bar was professional and friendly.
It sells food in the upstairs restaurant, but I didn't have time to try it. An all round pleasant way to spend half an hour or so.
Handy for Waverley Station and the shops on Princes Street.

Civilized. A delightful and quiet little pub across from the train station and just down a close from the Royal Mile. Lucky for me that this lovely place was also just belowe where I was staying the night. Service was excellent and so were our drinks. The barmaid looked like the Manet painting of the bar at the Folies Bergeres. I think my favorite thing was the atmosphere of conviviality.

friendly and attentive server, she noticed i was american and added ice to my water without me having to ask, which i appreciated. the food was so good! i had the sirloin & mash with peppercorn sauce (you have to get the sauce!) a bit pricey but very tasty. $42 USD.

On our first evening in Edinburgh we were looking for a place to eat. We were quite early on a Friday evening so even though we had no reservations we were still able to get a table. The staff was super friendly and the service was quick. We had the Shepherd?s Pie and the Salmon as well as the Sticky Toffee Pudding and everything tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend this place

Great venue. The food was really good particularly the chicken and chorizo. The waiters were very helpful but the food service was slow. Still would recommend.
