“Having recently moved back to Leith, I was delighted to see leith army store was still here :) I remember as a kid my grandad taking me here and I come out the store with all the kit on looking like a mini action man lol. The store is very well stalked with all you could ever need for survival but also they have an excellent selection of workwear for security, forestry, police and other professionals like that! “Colin” the manager is very well informed on his products and is always happy to share his experience and advice you on what best suits your needs!! So if your looking for camping gear or you need to kit your kid out for army cadets, even if your preparing for a zombie apocalypse. I highly recommend paying this store a visit!!!!!”

“I visited yesterday for a standard re-stuffing of an old & well loved bear and also came away with a new small fry friend I’d had my eye on. Tamsyn assisted me and was great with the whole process and made me feel very comfortable throughout . I also spoke with Kieran; they were both lovely, very helpful and very good at their jobs. “What a great shop for both boots and shoes with those comfortable soles.I have bought extra laces and the double thickness socks are so comfortable, especially in a new pair of DM's.It's my second pair of DM's now and love wearing them.My first pair of 8 hole boots were cherry reds (re soled 3 times) but this pair are a lovely teal colour, (3 years old and still the original soles)Staff are always very friendly and helpful.”

The staff had personally tried and owned some of the trainer's and shoes for sale which made it a great way to get feedback for matching with outfits etc. Just a small store but it holds a lot of shoes and small bags. “We popped in on our way back to our holiday Let to see if they had meat for sandwiches. They did and it was actually pretty tasty. Very convenient and compared to prices in the states, actually really good.”

“This is a large department type shop with in-store pharmacy. The staff member I spoke with from the pharmacy department was very helpful and assisted me with my purchase of pain relief tablets for my household. Excellent parking immediately outside the front of the store.”

“We got our 1 year old’s feet measured here by Sam. It wasn’t the best of experiences simply because she hadn’t worn shoes before and didn’t like the feeling of them on - she cried for a good 5 minutes after the sizing was finished.

However throughout this, Sam was excellent. He obviously knew what he was talking about regarding the different shoe types for babies/toddlers, and he was very personable and kind with her. For example he asked if he could roll up her trouser to put the sock on etc, instead of just doing it. He stopped immediately when she started getting upset and suggested we put the shoes on her instead.

Would recommend this place for baby shoe sizing, based on our interaction with Sam.”

“I’m not a huge fan of craighleith retail park - it’s a sadly depressing place and given it was built on one of the most important quarry’s - they completely overwrote its history.

However, M&S is the shining light - everything is done well here from customer service to the cafe and the clothes store.

I once witnessed a woman fall over faint in 2024 and the speed and kindness the staff treated her with deserves to be commended.

My go-to in Edinburgh if taking the family for a cafe outing.”

“I do love this shop. I just have a practical comment. Every time I go in, there are clothes racks in front of the mirrors. Please let us use the mirrors to see ourselves / hold up clothes. Please keep the mirrors clear. It is a clothes shop after all.”

“Harvey Nichols or Harvey Nicks as it is often referred to, is a large department store, just outside St James Quarter in Edinburgh city centre, a large department store in a grand building, this is a nice place to shop if you're looking for something a little more premium with a selection from food to fragrance. The store feels high-end so is fancy and well laid out, and the staff are friendly, with many creams and products on hand to test out before purchase. The store closes at 6 pm between Sunday and Wednesday, opening an hour later between Thursday and Saturday, regardless I feel this is far too early for a large department store in a big city, the shopping hours are not well catered to workers, and those who prefer to head out in the afternoons. There are places to sit and take a break while shopping in the store, which I appreciate, and the vibes inside the store are very nice, overall, with some nice products, so it is well worth a look in if you have time while shopping in Edinburgh. The store has five floors, including a Brasserie and Bar on the Fourth Floor, with impressive views of the city, including the Old Town. 4*”

“OK this lady is a gem! Omigosh I only went to have a look, but she persuaded me to get some shoes for my son for around £35. Now normally I go to shoezone, but since they disappeared from Cameron Toll my options were open. It was the best purchase ever! My son usually goes through shoes, but these have lasted! Thank you, you were totally right, and by some stretch I've actually saved money! Who knew!! Fantastic ambassador for Clarks. There was a gentleman too (who helped in his cheeky way with my son, I forgot his name too, but he was around 40s, and hair absent lovely guy.)”

“Love the new store in the St James Quarter! A new home but the same friendly welcome on arrival and great service thereafter. I needed a belt and the gentleman serving made sure that not only did I get a belt which fit me properly but really looked the part. I'd have bought a pair of sneakers too if I didn't already have too many at home!”

“Decent sized branch with room to browse (unlike the cramped branch on princes St!) past security at the airport. Good selection of jewellery, sunglasses, bags, hats, scarves etc. Prices are the same as high street, and a useful stop for browsing or if you need the final touch to an outfit or you've forgotten your sunnies for your holiday! Friendly, helpful staff.”

“Good shop. Nice clothes for all the family. Prices for clothing and shoes are reasonable as quality is normally good. Didn't have girls coats when I was in. Some for boys though.Some of the furniture I feel is overpriced for the quality. A lot of it is fake wood. Some looks a good fake and worth a bit more, but a lot just looks cheap to me.”
