Complete cowboys! Just bought a car with an MOT from here, passed with 2 advisories a couple of days before. Now I've had the car a week and have discovered 10 major faults, some of which are dangerous. Police have been informed.

I bought a car which had a 12 month MOT from Raeburn with only two advisories. Within a day I heard strange noises and took it to a reputable garage who listed a series of dangerous issues. The number of issues and cost of repair was so bad, the reputable garage advised against fixing it and recommended I scrap the car and buy a new one. Even though they would make no money from giving me that advice. This a warning to anyone who is thinking of buying a car with an MOT from Raeburn. Take it to a reputable garage BEFORE you part with your money.

The car I bought last year had passed its MOT at Raeburn Autos three weeks before I got it. On my way home, ABS warning light came on, which was caused by corrosion around one of the sensors and therefore incorrect distance from the wheel. Also, the day after the purchase I needed to call breakdown assistance as there was a severe oil leak caused by a hole in the oil filter. On top of that, windscreen washers were not working from the beginning either, as the pump was too weak for the liquid to even reach the jets. Lastly, brakes were so worn when I got it that it was actually dangerous to drive and so I had to replace them immediately - not even marked as advisory on the MOT. Dare I say that it's impossible for all these faults to develop in the 3 weeks between passing the MOT and me getting the car, so Raeburn Autos is definitely a no go unless you want to just pass MOT and risk your car and/or health. Almost forgot to add that they said on the exhaust emissions test results slip I got with the car that the car model was Toyota Corolla Verso 2004-2009, despite the fact it's Kia Cee'd (registration number was actually correct).
