I had the pleasure of dropping in to this lovely Oxfam shop this past week when I was on a flying return visit to Edinburgh.I needed to find a place where I could donate many boxes of much loved books and DVDs that I had collected over my 25 years in Edinburgh and the staff here were so welcoming, friendly and helpful.I am particularly grateful to them for their kind assistance during what proved to be a very hard week of shifting so many heavy boxes, wanting my belongings to go to good homes and benefit Oxfam. They are lovely people there doing good, and the shop is charming, with a great selection of lovely things to own or buy as gifts. I can recommend them wholeheartedly.

Very cute and unique gift items and souvenirs! I love that it all goes to charity as well. It's a nice walk from the botanical gardens if you want somewhere to meander after that (and a lot cheaper than the garden's gift shop)

Called last week to ask if they were taking donations. Yes please.Looked out books ,loaded car ,tried to park only to be told today no room for donations.Totally dismissive and unhelpful attitude.Had I made arrangement for today .No -hadn't been asked to ! St Columba's bookshop at Brandon Terrace is chalk and cheese. Oxfam really don't do themselves any favours. I won't be visiting anytime soon !! Pity.

Great little charity book shop! It was smaller than I hope it would be but the books are in good condition and have reasonable prices (the academic books a bit less)

This bookshop has quite a large selection of books from varying genres. It's fun to explore and is usually my weekend treat before I move on to a cafe with my new book for cake and coffee. The genres are organised well and if you're in search of something specific it is easy to find. The prices are slightly more than what I would generally expect, but that's my view on all the charity shops in Stockbridge so it matches the cost of the area I guess.

This is a cracking second-hand book shop. Today I popped in and realised just how much I love visiting. I left with a new Alasdair Gray book of short stories and a giant smile on my face. I love browsing here because it's really well-organised into clear sections and sub-sections and then alphabetised by author. If you're looking for something in particular then it's really easy to find its potential spot. Of course, stock-wise, it's just your luck. - I've been really happy with my literary finds thus far. There's always a nice atmosphere in the shop and staff are cheery and chatty, which makes me even more of a fan.

Seeing as though I'm going to be buying most of my Christmas books from this store, it seems high time I bump them up to a well deserved five stars. Oxfam has been a major contributor to my now overstuffed and slightly sagging bookcase. They still have a great selection, but where they really stand out from the crowd is in the quality of the used books. Most of the titles I've picked up look new or in near new condition, making it the perfect place for some thrifty giving this holiday season. They also seem to carry a fair amount of really current titles. For instance, Devil in the White City is a pain to find used, as it's still on the best seller list. After weeks of combing through the local shops, I finally snagged a copy, in MINT condition at Oxfam. Combined with the Shelter bookshop across the street, Stockbridge is this little bookworm's happy place. Well worth poking your head in the door.
