I have been banking here for 15+ years. It is a bank and generally it works provided you have nothing complicated to do. But I was told I would need to wait two weeks for an appointment to do an international transaction with my money! Eventually I was helped to get an appointment the next day by insisting and being firm. HSBC is supposed to be the global international bank but check the banking website they are not in the top 10 for customer service. On a positive note after they screwed up the transaction I complained and they refunded their charges and made a payment to cover the poor service.If you can do it on line the. It works but anything complex then you will feel the pain.

Very racist staff who discriminate against customer and make them uncomfortable. Not a nice experience, will be banking elsewhere in future.

Visited the Edinburgh branch recently and found the staff friendly and attentive, Lucy S was particularly helpful and professional, even engaging with my four year old while assisting with my query.

It was a frustrating experience.I wanted to put money to my account through the pay in machine today. My notes (some £100) are new and complete, don't have any damage, but the machines didn't accept my notes even though I tried two machines. It was frustrating, wasting my time and transport fee. The only good thing was the staff was helpful, and he told me to put money through the counter on the weekdays. How can I come on the weekdays because I work on the weekdays? Should I try the other notes again next Saturday?!

Unlike other employees at this HSBC Branch Ms.Sarah James is very kind and supportive to all customers and especially to foreigners who are new to this bank.I would recommend Sarah over others as some are not communicating well with foreigners.

Attempted to deposit cash into my account twice and in both instances the staff didn?t know how and sent me away.

This is the only HSBC branch in Edinburgh - they are shut Sunday and only open until 1pm on Saturday.If you're going to shut branches, the operating hours of the remaining ones need to be increased.Being primarily open 9-5 Monday-Friday is pointless as most people are at work.

Very chaotic. Staff completely unwilling to help. Bad attitude to foreigners. I tried to open bank account with all the documents needed. During my next visits, HSBC employees are alwyas sceptical and demnading something else which I was not notified earlier

Very poor experience. Staff more inclined to throw the rulebook (i.e. computer says no), than be customer centric or helpful

I applied for a credit card , I had to chase to get a text that told me I was approved and to await an email to confirm my application. 3 days later- still no email. I would have recieved my card AND pin long time ago from a different provider.

Couldn't help in a basic thing like opening a bank account after waiting for appointments for weeks. I should say they are least bothered about customers.

They don?t care about customer at all! Will switch to other bank account. You have to spend hours in waiting for their services.

Haven't heard from them in 4 weeks even though they said I can get my account in 2-3 weeks and I've been trying to get it since 2 months and I really need one. Went there 5 times and they never have enough staff and tell you to use online services.
