Lovely spot for a quiet drink with lots of options.Edit 2024 - not such a great spot for a wine tasting, the event was overbooked and the room far too small.

A great hotel, very close to some of the main old town attractions in Edinburgh. Staff are friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make a birthday stay special. The hotel is clean and pleasant. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful. Did not eat in the restaurant for tea/dinner so cannot comment on that. The hotel has a lovely courtyard. This wasn't really is use during our winter stay however I could imagine it being great during summer.Stayed in the Lombard suite which was roomy, clean and well stocked. Only minor criticisms are that the Lombard suite is quite dark and the ceiling lighting is not good. This room would be transformed if the main chandelier was swapped for spotlights. Additionally the toiletries provided in the room were of 'fruity' scents, which for me, personally, did not smell great. Other than that, a great stay overall

Staff - from reception to the breakfast service, the staff throughout the hotel are friendly and always helpful. 5/5Cleanliness - our room, the bar, restaurant and reception were all immaculately presented. 5/5Facilities - the room was well spec'd throughout. Nice touch with the Bose Bluetooth speaker system. However there was an issue with laundry, so fewer towels than normal and only one bath robe between the two of us. 4/5Sleep - despite it's central location our room had excellent triple glazing and traffic noise was a murmur. Bed and bedding was excellent. 5/5Breakfast - Good choice of hot and cold food. It was good. 4/5In short, a fabulously turned out hotel, well located to the royal mile.

Enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay in January 2024 with my Husband. We booked a tremendous 'Winter Warmer' dinner, bed and breakfast deal. The food in the Bistro for both dinner and breakfast was delicious, service was attentive, thoughtful and friendly.Check in and out was smooth and efficient. Hotel staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful at all times. We stayed in a standard room with ensuite bathroom. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet, though there was some renovation work going on at the time, this was done with consideration and did not disturb us.The hotel is located in the heart of Edinburgh's old town, an ideal location for Greyfriars Kirkyard, The Scotland National Museum and within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile.

We booked one of the suites for our wedding/honeymoon between Christmas and new year. My husband couldn?t believe that it?s only a 4-star hotel. The room was incredible - so comfortable and well stocked. The staff were really friendly and helpful, bringing up milk and orange juice and extra chairs for the morning of our wedding while we got ready. They were fine with us taking wedding photos in the lobby and grounds too. We arrived back to a bottle of champagne and a lovely note that evening. The breakfasts were amazing too in the on-site bistro. Neither of us really wanted to leave and wished we could have had a bit longer there. Absolutely 5-star service and place. Thank you for an incredible stay - we felt very well looked after.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Du Vin in the historic city of Edinburgh. Our experiences at the hotel exceeded our expectations. Hotel Du Vin captured the essence of Edinburgh?s rich history and offered a unique and unforgettable stay. From the moment we entered, we were greeted by a welcoming and helpful staff, eager to assist us and ensure a comfortable stay. We were told at one point that the hotel was an insane asylum, which added to our appreciation of the unique design and décor throughout the hotel. Our suite room was spacious and decorated with a hint of historical flair. The bed was comfortable and we got a kick out of the cool bathtub that was located outside of the bathroom (not all rooms are set up like that, though). One of the many benefits of this hotel is its onsite restaurant and cocktail lounge, both of which we enjoyed. Note that if you choose not to have daily room service you will be provided with a credit towards a cocktail at their unique lounge (which we did not hesitate to use almost immediately!). Hotel Du Vin is in a great location ? between many of the major historical sights of Edinburgh as well as within short walking distance to a number of quaint shops and great local restaurants and pubs. We found that staying at Hotel Du Vin provided a blend of historical charm and modern comfort that enhanced our visit to Edinburgh and we highly recommend this hotel.

This is definitely one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Each one made me feel like a valued guest. They even gave me an upgrade to a beautiful room on the 3rd floor. With the staff being so friendly I felt very safe coming in and out even at night, which is especially important as a solo female traveler. The hotel is a great location in Old Town and everything's was a 10 minute walk away. There is a great folk bar right across the street and the Bobby coffee shop just a minute away is a great place to grab a bagel and coffee. My room was beautiful and had a tub situated between 3 bay windows looking onto the street.I will definitely come back!

Went there for a cigar in their cigar lounge, service is horrendous, the bar tender charged me £13 extra, they wont come to you, you have to go order from the bar upstairs. Also the cigar lounge was dirty, they don't the clean ashtrays, and one of the heaters doesn?t work.Heard other regulars saying the service is horrible after I already ordered.Although i got my refund, or a cigar lounge or a facility in central Edinburgh it is absolutely unacceptable.

Outstanding service and great food and drink at this chilled out hotel and restaurant. My wife and I splashed out on the junior suite on the third floor which was great although a little strange having no bathroom door. Staff were extremely helpful and professional throughout. Location worked well- just 10 mins walk to Royal Mile. Very happy with the stay.
