Beautiful place and my steak was good, but service was slow and unmotivated, you would hear them complain about having to move. When I ordered the waiter asked me questions about how I wanted my food, then got charged individually for said options, he didn't say they were aditional. It's really low to try to scam a few pounds that way. I won't be back. Also mind they charge 12% for service without asking, this is not the US. 41 pounds for a tiny steak and fries with a small water, I feel scammed.

Our first night in Edinburgh we ate at The Grand Cafe. It was fabulous! We went back a few days later for lunch, and I wanted to reprise my dinner meal bc so far it was my favorite food I?d had in Scotland. They were kind enough to make it for me even though it was not on the lunch menu. My husband loved both of his meals as well. The staff is lovely and friendly. Bryony was our lovely lunch server. She was charming and great at her job!

We just popped in, were given a table right away. Our waitress, Amelia, and the other staff were very attentive. Live piano upstairs was fantastic and the food was great.

Unfortunate service. I was shown to my table and told my server would take my order shortly. Nearly 30 minutes later, I flagged down a server (mine? who can say; no one ever came over), who seemed very annoyed with me (curt, eye rolls, dropped the teapot on my table and sailed of). I felt very unwelcome. At one point he and another employee were talking, looked directly at me, and then snickered, which I obviously did not appreciate. Not sure what that was about?and I?m sure I?ll never know!
Great afternoon tea set though! It?s a shame that it was rather soured by the overall experience.
