The one star is for the one redeeming factor; the lovely gentleman who dealt with me initially. I had taken a diamond ring in to be valued for insurance purposes. He was very pleasant and informative and we chatted about arthritic knuckles, amongst other things. Realising that the ring was a bit uneven after a recent fall, we agreed on a price for the valuation (£185) and separately, a price for the repair and resizing of the ring (£115).A week later I received a phone call telling me that it was ready to collect. My husband kindly went to pick it up and was about to pay when he asked for the valuation certificate. He was then told by a female assistant that it hadn?t been valued because we hadn?t requested that to be done, and that she remembers clearly dealing with us initially herself. My husband politely said that it had been a gentleman who had dealt with us (who wasn?t in the shop at the time) but she rudely insisted that it was her and that she clearly remembered us only asking for a repair / resize. When my husband asked her to explain what the ?doodle? on the paperwork meant (this was done by the original chap showing us how a ring can be adjusted for the afore-mentioned arthritic knuckles) she continued to be very rude and said that he should just pay for the resizing and repairs, should take the ring away and they would let him know once it had been valued. A little tricky, he pointed out, since the ring would no longer be in their possession. The ignorant attitude of that one (older) woman (I?d struggle to describe her as a lady) has ruined all the good work originally done by the lovely man.I have now taken it to another establishment whose price is almost 50% of what Goodwins were going to charge.AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

We had a great experience with Linda. She was very patient and knowledgeable about antique jewelry. She helped my wife find exactly what she wanted. Highly recommend.

We had some jewellery to sell and Goodwins were fantastic! Not only did they offer a great price for the pieces they were interested in, but they also explained everything about the jewellery I had and gave us reccomendations for the pieces that weren't suitable for their stock. The shop is also lovely and they made us feel really welcome. 100% reccomend for sellers!

This is a great family jeweller. I have used Goodwins several times and they have always been great. I have just contacted them again today and they have once more been superbly helpful. Despite the fact that on this occasion, they they couldn't assist, they still took a good deal of time advising me where I can get the best choice from and made sure I was well looked after with an honest, thoughtful, appraisal of my jewelry.

Another shop in the Goodwins family, and a slightly bigger one than the store on Rose Street. It is essentially the same though, selling ornate and beautiful jewellery that I could never afford! The speciality in here is antiques, and when I visited it was full of people waiting to have stuff valued. I like the store, but it does tend to have a bit of a stuffy feeling, and we sort of felt a bit out of place, maybe because we were a bit younger.

Just to add to the other review. They do a good jewelry valuation service here. They do it on site rather than sending away so it's quick and you know where your jewelry is.
