I had an awkward order and some technical errors crept up as my insurance voucher was causing problems but Douglas was patient and polite throughout and made sure I had everything needed on my order and prepared it well. “Wow, all I can say is 5 stars are just not enough for this company, not after the superb attention I received today.Today they serviced my Riga record deck, which we bought in the late 1970's, replaced the original cartridge, & fitted a new belt to, again, replace the original.And before any work started I was given options for each item needed, & the various costs involved for each of these parts, meaning I actually had the final say in the matter.And finally, thank you for getting my whole machine up & running again so quickly, as nothing beats holding & listening to vinyl.”

We decided to try Bose Repair Experts before spending £100s on a new amp. We really appreciate the follow up advice and support we received when the repaired amp was returned. Highly recommend!”

“CXN100 and CXA81 arrived yesterday….. Hooked up to my new PMC Prodigy 5s and left running overnight playing Radio Paradise to get the amp to settle in….. Qobuz this morning and some test tracks and the system is rather sublime… Effortless, spacious, good bass grip, really rather impressed…. Surpasses my EVO150 running the PMCs and/or my Dali Opticon 2s… In fairness the new system is currently installed in a much larger room as intended, but I’m extremely impressed….. I was going to buy a Naim Supernait 3 but in all honesty, I’ve demo’d it along with others (Cyrus I9 XR, Arcam A25, NAIT XS3) and this is close, real close to them all…. The only stumbling block is the larger form/dimension of the 2 units and it may force us to revisit the Cyrus…… The other issue seems to be Streamagic not wanting to play ball with both the EVO150 and the CXN100 on app startup… It was patchy with just the Evo, seems more patchy with the 2 streamers associated… Thanks so much to Tomasz in Edinburgh….. Every time he remains patient and courteous to the max…”

“I've been volunteering for the BHF on Portobello High Street for a number of years now. It's a great place to work for all kinds of reasons! There's a great team of management and volunteers, so we all feel well looked after and appreciated. It's also fascinating to see how the shop runs, both on the shop floor and behind the scenes.I help stock the book shelves, and I just love being surrounded by such an interesting and diverse range of writing, from the latest bestsellers to collectibles from my childhood! And it's great getting to help customers choose their next read.All in all, I would really recommend volunteering here. It helped me get through a tough time in my life so I can honestly say that it has done my heart good!”

“Five Stars for Juan! A Lifesaver at Halfords!I rolled into Edinburgh Hermiston Gate completely frustrated. My bike, my main mode of transportation, had suddenly decided to quit on me, and I didn't have an appointment. However, Juan, one of the mechanics there, was an absolute lifesaver.Even though I hadn't booked beforehand, Juan took the time to listen to my problem and diagnose the issue. He explained everything clearly and concisely, making sure I understood what was wrong and how he planned to fix it.What impressed me most was Juan's professionalism and efficiency. He worked quickly and diligently, getting my bike back in tip-top shape in no time.Thanks to Juan's expertise and willingness to help, I was back on the road in no time. “We recently visited this store for a last minute purchase! We’re from the Scottish Borders and accidentally arrived without a pram during our day trip, due to this we thought it would be beneficial to upgrade our daughter’s trike which she could use for our family day out. We fully expected to purchase a trike and leave building it ourselves in the car park. Ross the assistant couldn’t have been better! He stayed with us from start to finish, recommending which one and helping us to the till. To my disbelief Ross helped build our trike while interacting with our daughter! We really didn’t expect such great customer service as we’ve visited this store before and unfortunately didn’t have the same experience. Ross made our trip fun and one to remember! Shopping with a 1.5 year old can be challenging and he made us feel completely at ease, as first time parents who don’t shop in town often this meant a lot to us. Thank you and will definitely be back thanks to him!”

Nevertheless, it’s worth a visit - if only for the impressive storefront - but be sure to bring your wishlist!Unfortunately I forgot to update mine. Instead the very friendly owner kept presenting me with one gem after another until purely by coincidence he came up with something which caught my interest only a few weeks before, reading the July 2023 issue of Mojo Magazine: two beautiful reissues by the recently resurrected Zamrock legends Witch.I couldn’t believe my luck, thanks again for your time and perseverance!”

“I just popped into buy a nice pair of shoes and a lovely pair of cord like material jeans great value. I was sat in the corner trying on the shoes when two men walked in who were clearly there to steal and the way the manger dealt with them and kept her cool but stern voice was what really impressed me and as I walked out a young Asian lady said goodbye with a lovely smile and kinda made me feel embarrassed ? by these Scottish people's behaviour as she was clearly there to begin volunteering and would just like to apologise on these young people's behaviour. What's going in today's society they feel it acceptable to go steal from a charity shop the three lady's really impressed me on how they handled the situation. Thank you, 10 out 10 the customer service.”

“Here, the advantages of having a charity shop located in the city centres are evident in abundance. Recent book releases, the odd tempting album even old football kits are there thanks to the more affluent donators. As with most charity shops, bargains are there to be found and this one is no different. What makes this one stand out is its healthy selection of retro games. I managed to find a couple of decent Gamecube gems amongst others. Worth a look.”

“Somewhat small, and beginning to look a little thin in certain sections (particularly games), it's still a fun place to dig around for things. I had a fun idea to buy the worst possible movie I could find to put something nice in the DVD case as a gift, and BOY did I find it. A 2022 Bruce Willis joint called "Detective Knight" doubtful I'd find such 'gems' elsewhere. But as mentioned the gaming section is beginning to thin out and barely cover the shelves in some cases.I will confess to finding the staff a little stand-offish in CeX establishments. I don't imagine it's an easy job, especially with some folks coming in trying to fob off questionable merch, but I often find them somewhat gathered in groups, which is not very inviting to the average customer.”

“I was looking for ladies' socks and was escorted to the shelf area by a friendly staff member. There I found some lovely bamboo top socks and purchased them - so comfy and soothing to wear!”

“One of my favorite charity shops in Edinburgh. Anna, the manager, is such a nice woman who goes out of her way to be helpful and friendly with a cheery word for every customer. On my visit yesterday, I was trying to decide which backpack to choose for an upcoming trip when an extremely rude man snatched one of the bags from me and said I'd had long enough to decide and he was going to buy it. I tried to reason with him but he was having none of it. I called out to Anna for help and she handled the situation admirably with tact and diplomacy. In the end, the man threw the bag back at me and stomped out. All in all, an extremely well-managed store busting at the seams with great quality, reasonably priced stuff. I'd highly recommend a visit!”

She was extremely helpful and efficient and managed to restore all the missing links, which all seem to require e-mail to work.
