I ended up purchasing a small piece of mountaineering equipment. Overall, it is okay but prices are on slightly higher side so if you want a really good deal you should try to buy online instead.”

“We took our very shy and self-conscious grandson into Slater Menswear in Edinburgh. We were served by a lovely young man called Daniel. Daniel immediately realised what a stressful situation this was for our grandson and was superb how he dealt with him. Slaters Menswear should be proud of him, he is a real asset to your firm. “Super helpful and knowledgeable staff. Helped us find our family Tartans with lots of extra history of different Tartans through the ages. A fabulous little shop just off the Royal Mile. Don't just stop at the door, pop in and buy your family Tartans already made in to products or by the yard/metre. We are so glad we followed the music down the little alleyway to find this little gem of traditional workmanship.”

I had an awkward order and some technical errors crept up as my insurance voucher was causing problems but Douglas was patient and polite throughout and made sure I had everything needed on my order and prepared it well. “Fantastic little shop which prints t shirts and other clothing items as well as selling their own designs. Great selection of hoodies, t shirts, baby clothes, badges, fridge magnets and other assorted items and super friendly staff. I left my suitcase there when I paid my first visit and they were kind enough to trace me down on Instagram to tell me as I had lost track of where I left it. They held on to it before I could get back to grab it which was amazingly kind ? Just around the corner you have a fabulous view of Edinburgh castle from the grassmarket. Top marks I’ll be back again ?”

“Solid TK Maxx experience. If you are in town anyway, go for it. 4 stars as there is no parking really and it's only convenient if you are shopping in town. Expect to use public transport or park a fair distance away with edinburgh charges. Not on one floor. If you are disabled it can be used, but save yourself the hassle and go to another branch out of town for ground floor access and disabled parking.”

“What a great shop for both boots and shoes with those comfortable soles.I have bought extra laces and the double thickness socks are so comfortable, especially in a new pair of DM's.It's my second pair of DM's now and love wearing them.My first pair of 8 hole boots were cherry reds (re soled 3 times) but this pair are a lovely teal colour, (3 years old and still the original soles)Staff are always very friendly and helpful.”

“You can't see it, but i'm doing a First To Review dance in my living room... Besides my glee at added a new addition to my FTR domination, I actually quite like Jigsaw. I don't make a point of shopping on George St that often, and contrary to popular belief, that has very little to do with the fact that it houses mostly big brands that make my wallet cry. Even I get distracted by a shiny Anthropologie window every now and again. It's because George St has been the home of some of my WORST customer service experiences. ... look, it get it. When I walk into a shop where the price tag slopes on the steep side, I very rarely look "posh". Even when i'm trying, i'm likely wearing some sort of comic themed dress and beat up flats. I don't tend to look like i'd happily drop x number of pounds on something classy. But what they don't know is that those beat up flats are pretty good quality and I had that dress made. I might LOOK like a teenager, but I learned a long time ago that it's worth it to splurge on clothing. Sure, I can get dressed head to toe in Primark, but with my running around, i'd be needed a new outfit every few months. I don't mind paying for things that last. Jigsaw was one of the only places that didn't treat me like a waste of time or roll their eyes when I walked in the door (that review is coming...). Every time i've been in, they've been cheerful and downright helpful... even this last time when I got caught in a rainstorm and arrived looking the part of a drowned rat. The make well tailored clothes and (a major plus for us short folks), I don't have to tailor the arms to fit. You won't understand how awesome that is unless you too have spent the last 30 years having to make every damn sleeve shorter. I bought a pretty linen blazer from them and on my hunt for a trench coat, they were easily my first stop (but sold out... boo.). So no, I don't shop George St often, but I make an exception for Jigsaw.”
