“This Waterstones is a lovely store. It has 3 floors, with everything all accessible by lifts or stairs. Each floor has descriptions on which categories of books are on that particular floor. There is a cafe on the 3rd floor too, and a couple of chairs dotted around on back walls to read in peace. I spent about an hour just reading my kindle in privacy and peace. It's always busy too with book lovers of all ages milling around. Fantastic range of books, something to suit everyone without a doubt.”

“Great bookshop with a fantastic selection of books for both students and townies alike, including all those textbooks you need for that lecture. If you're not a student, then just wander in for a browse and find that perfect book you didn't know you needed. A special note of appreciation goes to Richard, who spent a lot of time helping to track down an extremely rare, out of print course book, then phoning Newcastle for me so that I could arrange delivery to London. Thanks to his efforts, I will be doing all of my book shopping in Blackwells in the future.”

“Went in to buy my grandma a book for her birthday. She's into murder mystery books and even though this store isn't as big as some other branches it still had a vast choice of book I was looking for.”

“Decent selection of books for the size of store. On miltiple visits, the mens toilets have had a revolting smell, like a fishmongers where all the fish have rotted. I dont know if it never gets cleaned or there is another issue but its disgusting.”

“Really good shop, I never walk out of this place without finding something to buy. The prices are really reasonable, and there's a lot of space given over to each department. It feels spacious and easy to shop and move around in. Lovely staff, too!”

“It always makes me happy to walk into a Waterstones bookshop and this one is no exception. There an excellent range of books, games, essential stationary and even puzzles. I hope they continue to survive. The staff were as always knowledgeable about the shop and the books. 5 stars all the way.”

“OK, so buying a gift for mother in law who likes painting. Customer service agent Morgan asked if I needed help. I told him what she liked to paint and got the best gifts ever! Fantastic service, I'm really impressed with the result.”

“This shop is literally heaven for pop culture, music and anything that’s not deemed “normal” by Karens. As a person who will go and spend tons of money on alternative fashion and accessories this place has that too, it saves me from buying stuff online and waiting for ages to get it ? lifesaver ?”

“I've been volunteering for the BHF on Portobello High Street for a number of years now. It's a great place to work for all kinds of reasons! There's a great team of management and volunteers, so we all feel well looked after and appreciated. It's also fascinating to see how the shop runs, both on the shop floor and behind the scenes.I help stock the book shelves, and I just love being surrounded by such an interesting and diverse range of writing, from the latest bestsellers to collectibles from my childhood! And it's great getting to help customers choose their next read. All in all, I would really recommend volunteering here. It helped me get through a tough time in my life so I can honestly say that it has done my heart good!”

“I just popped into buy a nice pair of shoes and a lovely pair of cord like material jeans great value. I was sat in the corner trying on the shoes when two men walked in who were clearly there to steal and the way the manger dealt with them and kept her cool but stern voice was what really impressed me and as I walked out a young Asian lady said goodbye with a lovely smile and kinda made me feel embarrassed ? by these Scottish people's behaviour as she was clearly there to begin volunteering and would just like to apologise on these young people's behaviour. What's going in today's society they feel it acceptable to go steal from a charity shop the three lady's really impressed me on how they handled the situation. Thank you, 10 out 10 the customer service.”

“Lots of back to school items in various price ranges. Lots of 3 for 2 choices on their cheapest school essentials. Some nice sets as well. Great range of pencil cases, notebooks for school age. Good to see that WH Smith can still be relied upon as a stationery shop. Staff member was very pleasant at the checkout and the shop is bright and clean.”

“We went for the superior room with balcony and castle view on the 7th floor. Did we pay over the odds for it? Probably, but then I don’t think one person who was in Edinburgh at the same time could say they didn’t as the tattoo and the fringe was on. Would I pick the same room and pay the same price again? Yes, in a heartbeat! The room had definitely seen better days, but we understand that there is a refurbishment programme ongoing (no noise on the weekend). So this will be addressed. But it was spotlessly clean, the linens crisp and towels fluffy. The bed was so comfortable. Only one niggle was the large gap under the door that let a stream of light through at night from corridor that was easily remedied with a few strategically placed pillows! What we were paying for here was the location and the amazing views! I would challenge anyone who said they had a better view of the city. The balcony was fabulous and whenever we did return to the room we were happy to listen to the sounds down on the street….we had a fabulous seat for a gospel choir singing by the portrait gallery! I would probably suggest that this is not the room for you if you have to have total peace and quiet as the trains do, appear to, run all night. But not a problem for us. We had two of the best nights sleep ever in this hotel, amazing! We had breakfast included in our rate and this has to be one of the best breakfast services we have experienced in a very long time. Everything was perfectly cooked and was HOT…no mean feat for a buffet! Clean, tidy, professional team buzz around the restaurant making sure everyone is ok. And the squeeze your own orange juice was fabulous! Where this hotel excels is the team. Everyone we came into contact with were amazing, friendly, professional and went out of their way to be helpful at what was a hugely busy time. So thank you to everyone who made our stay in Edinburgh perfect.”

“Very cute and unique gift items and souvenirs! I love that it all goes to charity as well. It's a nice walk from the botanical gardens if you want somewhere to meander after that (and a lot cheaper than the garden's gift shop)”

“I have been shopping here since it opened. Today I had the absolute pleasure of being served/assisted by Nina. This was such a Pleasure that I am here writing a review. She was so personable and went above and beyond to facilitate what I didn’t realise I needed. I’m so happy with the service that I received. She recommended items I’d not noticed and I came home with five beautiful pieces I genuinely didn’t see. I’m so grateful for this interaction. Restored my faith in Giving; because of the Genuine Kindness I Received. BHF have best Volunteer I’ve met in 40 years (I’m a Volunteer too). If you read this Nina Thank You; I told you my story and you were better than M&S for helping me. ❤️”

“A rare thing - a bookshop with a wide range in a modern shopping centre. Shame it's closing next month - hope the friendly staff are kept on at the larger store in the centre.”

“I’d like to say how courteous and pleasant your staff member was at this store, when I visited on 19th April. He was well presented, patient and took time to make conversation. What a difference that makes. Please give the guy a pat on the back for his level of service. Thanks!”

“Thanks to the cashier at the Waverley Station branch (sorry I didn't get her name) who saved my day yesterday (Saturday 4th June) when she gave me brilliant advice on how to fix my broken espadrille.I came into the shop looking for an emergencysupply of super glue, en route to a friend's wedding, and she directed me to buy nail glue from the Boots branch opposite. Ingenious fix as it turned out! My shoe (and its emergency repair) made it through the day. Yeah!”
