Bennets Bar is a storied old Victorian pub with loads of character. Excellent selection of local cask ales and Scotch whiskies, all served in a warm and lively atmosphere. The crowd is diverse, making it a great spot to soak up local energy. Bartenders are attentive and friendly, and it?s just a short walk from the Haymarket transit hub?perfect for a pint before or after exploring the city.

For decades, this pub has served the Kings Theatre next door, with audience, cast, crew, and everyone in between having sampled its wares. Now, with the theatre closed for renovation and refurbishment, the pub has somewhat (or somehow) lost its purpose. Or so it feels to me. It's still a Victorian pub, and one that (as it should) has shirked any notion of reinventing itself as some fancy cocktail bar. But now it feels a bit sad. Tourists still come in, as do locals, the staff are friendly enough, the selection of drinks not massive but exactly as you'd expect. It is a great little boozer, but it just feels like something is missing now... Perhaps it's the punters from next door, and I'm sure they'll be back. (Oh, and check out the little snug as you enter: proper Victoriana!)

One of the best traditional pubs in Edinburgh. Friendly staff and great drinks selection. Always a great atmosphere and buzzing!

there is a lady who works here who every time I go is so unnecessarily rude. I once took a big group to do the pub quiz there which is always full and we split up into teams. She seemed very angry that we were there.
