I have never wanted to leave a restaurant as quick as I have tonight! Visiting Edinburgh and for our last night we decided to come to Angels with Bagpipes cause we were recommended to come here. Honestly would rather had got fish and chips.Firstly we were seated in front of the big balcony windows and was asked if we wanted water and we said yes. The waitress was taking a while I honestly thought she was getting it from the well outside. Then she came back to our table and took our order and again I asked for water and she completely forgot she didn't even remember asking us before.Food wise is ok. But the atmosphere in the sitting area at the back was horrible. Couldn't hear my husband talk and ruined our evening. There was a loud couple at the back table with a voices like a fog horns, and the room was incredibly warm. Once we finished our mains we just wanted to get out of there.If you want a romantic setting or somewhere to enjoy and have a conversation this isn't the place for you. Completely disappointing.

Food was tasty but as others have said, portions are on the small side. The biggest issue however, is the place is as big as my thumb and has no soft furnishings. On this occasion it was unbearably loud that I couldn't have a conversation with my wife without having to raise my voice. We ended up finishing our food, skipping dessert just to be finished and leave. We still had a bill north of £170, and spent less at Wedgwood and had a much better experience

The main course (venison) was nicely prepared and presented with a solid flavor profile. However, the portions were absurdly small for the price point. The side (broccoli) was very tasty but comprised mostly the stems with very little crowns - not great.Overall I was quite disappointed. I actually walked away hungry, which at that price point is inexcusable. Better food at a better value at many other venues. Cannot recommend.

The ambiance is wonderful, and the design is simple yet stunning. Food presentation is simply engaging to the eye. Food is entirely simplistic but tasty, delicious, and delightful, with the flavour that we seek. We award five stars for this reason.The staff members are very friendly, pleasant and helpful.

Wonderful meal on the outdoor patio during Fringe with view of street performers. Friendly, prompt service. Not rushed even though the restaurant was booked to capacity. The meal was fantastic from starter through dessert. Beautiful presentation, excellent flavors, generous servings, nice variety on the menu. Beet salad and chocolate torte were highlights.

Although the pricing is a little high, each meal is incredibly excellent, which surprised me and made me feel wonderful value for money. I've been in love with smoked salmon ever since I tried it!

We had a set Christmas menu. The venue is nice but I thought they could have made it more Christmassy. It was also cold and we had to ask that the heating was turned up.The food was average considering the price. Processco was served at room temperature which is a big no no for me! I would return if they up their game!

The best restaurant I have eaten during my stay in Edinburgh. It was recommended to me by a local guide and I was not disappointed. At first it may look like nothing special just another restaurant that serves crowd pleaser on the Royal Mile. But you cannot be any further from the truth. The Chef creates magic on a plate. Full of flavours and textures. The BEST venison I have had in my life. Served with barley, celeriac pure, walnuts granola, pickled blackberry and jus. The first course Parsnip Soup with Nduja already put me in a very happy place to begin with. It was all I needed on a cold and windy day. A dish that will warm you up from within, that is full of flavours. The portions are just right. Worth spending maybe a bit more money and eat very well. I would definitely recommend visiting the restaurant to anyone who loves good food. I will be back and bring friends with me to spread the love.

We had an outstanding Xmas lunch yesterday. From booking to the actual lunch, everything was smooth and efficient. Ana was our server and she was first class and so attentive and friendly. Some of her colleagues joined at various points to help serve etc and they were also excellent. But ana was a delight. I booked for work Xmas lunch so there's always lots of pressure in case its a flop! But I needn't have worried, everyone's food was delicious, the wine was excellent and service, as I mentioned, was first class. So impressed. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend ? Well done team AwB! X

Best meal our trip and far exceeded our expectations. Definitely ahead of time and enjoy. The chocolate dessert was the perfect ending to the meal.

Lovely place with great food and wine. Not too much to fault with the salmom starter and Venison main as can be seen by the photos. Would recommend.
