Lovely discreet hotel down a quiet route on Skye - traditional well kept with lawned gardens and a great stay transiting to Harris. Staff( especially the girl from Birmingham ) were very friendly and helpful - lovely tasty evening meal served follow by a varied breakfast the next morning : expensive room was a bit small and hot over the kitchen : surprise was a golden pheasant walking past the breakfast room window !

Beautiful location, though some distance to reach it along an old track road - 4x4 ideal! Room clean, spacious and comfortable and breakfast absolutely delicious. Evening meal apparently not an option advised late in the booking - so dining was some distance to travel and arrange - which was quite difficult and inconvenient for us. Manager unsympathetic and quite rude. Wouldn't make the effort to stay again, sadly!

We spent a night here on our trip through Scotland. A very nice place. Good service, nice rooms, quite location, and good food. The breakfast is good, but not much more than that. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and you can watch the golden pheasants through the windows. The rooms are quite expensive, so considering this, one could have expected a little bit more on the breakfast and service front.

This was the highlight of our week in Scotland! Everything about our stay was absolutely amazing, we couldn?t be happier! The location is remote with a gorgeous view and close proximity to many popular attractions and excursions. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts and dinners were incredible; my husband and I were raving over every meal! The hotel staff members were all so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a stay on the Isle of Skye!

Stayed here for the 3rd time, and have certainly not been disappointed on every occasion. The hosts of this hotel are lovely hosts and there is a great team of staff. Highly recommend the dinner - food is excellent.

I thought the house was lovely and certainly a unique property where, if you chose to do so, you could feel like a lord or lady of the House. The food was excellent; warm croissants fresh out of the oven; the rooms comfortable and the other amenities such as the bar and the library charming. We were introduced to the Mary Berry Gin Fizz which was tasty. We got to see the gorgeous pheasants and other wildlife. I wouldn't have minded a longer stay to have been able to enjoy the grounds and surrounding countryside more. It was more of a challenge to get to than I anticipated, in particular the last 2 mile stretch of country road/path, but once we made the first drive in and knew what to expect it wasn't a problem.

Charming inn! My boys loved the snooker table and playing chess by the fire. I loved sitting in the bay window observing the birds and rabbits. The grounds were downright lovely. Very sad we didn?t spot one of the golden pheasants, though. The driveway is definitely rough but not nearly as bad as previous guests warned. We took it slow and gazed at all the newborn lambs with their moms. We stayed in the family room and had really incredible views of the water and front lawn. The space was fine for our family of four, and my boys appreciated having their own single beds tucked away with a little privacy. The bathroom was large and had excellent shampoo and large, fluffy towels. Mind your head in the family room, though. It is the top floor (lots of stairs), and the ceilings are sloped: we all hit our heads more than once. Also, the toilet was troublesome. If you primed it, it would sometimes flush; other times, it was a gamble. At $400 a night, I expected a little more. The bar area was cozy and romantic. Loved all the candles and leather. They have a nice selection of whiskey and cocktails you can charge to the room. Note that they do add a gratuity to all food and drinks. Our meals ranged from outstanding to downright bad. It?s like the kitchen fell apart on the second day. For my first dinner, I had a scrumptious lamb roast with root vegetables. First breakfast was salmon Benedict and the most delicious croissant I?ve ever tasted. The next meals were pretty terrible. For my second dinner, I ordered the roast again (because I was so delicious the first time), but it was served overly WELL done and without a Demi glas ?it tasted dry, fatty, and muddy. Like an end piece of leftover roast my grandma would serve late in the week. Our second breakfast had hard poached eggs on the Benedicts and black burnt pancakes. And my son?s breakfast arrived as we were all finishing. More care should be taken in the kitchen. We left disappointed. Service was cheerful. Everyone was friendly and hard working. Overall, I am glad we stayed here.

Traveling with our boy and girl late 20s adult kids, we had a hard time finding a place on the Isle of Skye that had something with twin beds. I finally found the Greshornish and their family room. While I wasn?t super excited that we would all have to share one room for a couple nights, this room seemed like it would work. Well, it worked amazingly well! The room was a really nice size with one of the beds over in a little alcove. This gave our son a little bit of space away from the chatty females in the family! The room was beautiful with really comfy beds A fantastic bath with a shower that was hot and had good water pressure and a claw foot tub that my daughter used and adored. The house itself has a great lounge area with fires when it is cooler and a game room with billiard table. Lots of property to roam along with beautiful pheasants that we fell in love with. But the true gem is the staff. They made us feel like family. So friendly and caring. This was hands down our favorite place we stayed during our whole 2 week trip to Scotland.

The Greshornish House is in a very quiet location, at the end of a single lane road. The view of the Loch is very nice, the service was great and we had a wonderful room (Islay). It was very spacious, with a nice view of the front lawn and the loch/water. The bathroom was also spacious, modern and well equipped. The food was good, for breakfast and for dinner as well. There is a nice hike to be done around the Greshornish peninsula. It is not always well marked and can get muddy (boggy), so the use of an app and GPS to stay on track is a must. The views around the peninsula are superb, and it is very quiet, you and the sheeps only ! Since it was May, we also had the pleasure to see tiny lambs with their mothers. The Greshornish House is also a nice base if you want to explore some other nice restaurants in the area. We highly recommend the Edinbane Lodge restaurant, a unique experience only 10 minutes away.

Absolutely our favorite spot out of nine locations over 23 days on our recent trip. Unbelievable grounds and amenities including beautiful lounge with roaring fireplace, snooker table, cozy bar, and wonderful restaurant (do make reservations in advance). We stayed four nights and I did not want to leave. Lynsey and her brother were great hosts and the rest of the staff wonderful as well. The Chinese Pheasants were such a delight to see each day. Skye is a big island but I am so glad we chose not to stay in Portree and landed in this fairy-tale place instead.

We were on a weeks tour of the highlands and on our second night we stayed in edinbane, particularly the Grenhornish house hotel. It turned out to be a little gem, again it was a listed building without a lift but the staff booking us in did offer to carry our bags. Our room was magnificent in both size and decor. The view over the bay was fantastic. Our bathroom has a wonderful freestanding bath. The bar was cosy and the staff friendly. There is also a hotel dog! We enjoyed lovely conversation with other patrons. We ate dinner in the hotel and the food was a happy and delicious surprise. The owner has very interesting wine list which has many of the wines available to you by the glass. Outside the dining room we were able to look at the gorgeous Canadian golden pheasants. I would highly recommend the hotel and look forward to returning.

Just returned from a truly fantastic stay at the Greshornish House. The welcome from Keeley? (Apologies if spelt wrong!) was among the friendliest ever! ( management, give this girl a pay rise, she is simply wonderful at her job!) Hotel location kids amazing, ok approach road has ?some? potholes but nothing as bad as most roads around Portree to be honest! Communal lounge was so homely with roaring fire to sit and have a few whiskeys! Room so really comfy and breakfast was superb. Totally ignore any 1 star review, this hotel was fantastic. Some people just are never happy?just don?t get it!!!! Enjoy a truly unique Scottish experience and soak up the relaxing atmosphere! Would definitely return!

Second time we have stayed at it was ruined by bad manners, poor small breakfasts, nowhere to hang our clothes, not as friendly as first time as think they are only wanting the money and don?t care about the customer. Won?t be back ever again, full hotel needs complete refurbishment not just a few rooms. Slates missing from the roof in a lot of places, not very dog friendly as it once was, they charge for a dog, £15 a night but never used to.

Had a wonderful start to our holiday here. Beautiful location with friendly staff. We were surprised by the Golden Chinese Pheasants trotting about the grounds. We like birds, and the staff gave us granola to throw for them. Breakfast was delicious with all manner of conventional cooked breakfast plus unusual treats like chia seed pudding. Our room was comfortable and characterful and we enjoyed the lovely setting in the evening with views from the dining room windows across the grounds. We especially liked taking drinks through to the lounge and sitting by the roaring fire. Typical Highland decor, cosy comfort and tremendous service. Go you!

Really great homely hotel worth dodging the huge pot holes on the approach road for. Staff were friendly and breakfast service particularly was great with a lovely lady and an amazing breakfast that is included with the stay. Our family room was large, clean and comfortable and the view from The room in the morning was beautiful. Will definitely return.
