Terrible road to an uninspiring run of the mill garden centre.

Enjoyed walking around and looking at the plants. It has the feel of a local nursery run by professional, knowledgeable and well trained staff. The plants are of a very high quality. Funnily enough I loved the plant pots. They were so big you could have a bath in them. The coffee shop and gallery are well worth a visit as well.

After a lovely time exercising our dogs in the beautifully secure 'Smeaton Dogwood' we were ready for a cuppa, but the sound of Cauliflower and Mature Cheddar soup, served with a cheese scone was just TOO tempting. Boy were they a good combination!! Great service, this place is just such a find. We have a bit of thing about cheese scones and these got an A+ rating - cheese on top and loads of cheese inside too. Served nicely warm - with a pat of butter for each half. Others should learn from you!!

Smeaton Nursery is such a delight, with a huge selection of wonderful plants and delicious freshly baked treats in the cafe.

Lovely place if u want to go for a walk around. If u go in the door straight to the flower on ur right that is the home to butterfly's plus they might land on u if ur still. The coffee shop is lovely too the staff are nice and friendly and if u sit outside u might see some birds too, under the new bit they have built.

Really shocking customer service and after sales. Certainly wouldn?t recommend going to this garden centre. Bought a £65 pine and despite having gardened and successfully grown pines for over 50 years they simply wouldn?t accept any responsibility for the defective plant. Started telling them less than 4 weeks after buying it was a poor specimen and this is it now after 9 weeks. Very poor indeed?.of course it?s the customers fault?but be warned the manager has stated categorically they are not responsible for any plants when they leave the nursery.

The nursery seemed to have some nice looking plants though we actually went there for lunch at the cafe. Have been a few times before and found it to be very nice though we weren?t quite as impressed this time. The ploughman?s platter (I think it was called) was actually very nice and worth the £12 however my partner got the cream tea which came in at c. £13 by the time she paid a bit extra for cappuccino rather than ordinary coffee. Along with the coffee this consisted of a sandwich on thin and ordinary brown bread that didn?t look great and a fruit scone with small containers of jam and cream. The scone was nice enough but overall it didn?t seem much for the money. So, a bit of a mixed bag with one good dish and one not so good.

Excellent ? nursery in the grounds of the Smeaton estate. Fantastic choice of plants and will definitely be back. One star lost though for very limited choice for gluten free (soup only, which to be fair was very nice) and even less offered for a vegan.

Went for lunch .. we had to ask for the soup we ordered so it came with after the lunch was delivered . Also had to ask for the tea which should have been served with the cream tea . Training for younger members of staff would be handy on service .lovely wee place tho
