Nice little walk in the cave and especially above, along the barriers and in the moor. What a wonderful landscape!

A huge interesting cave just off the beach. You can do a tour, but we were out of season. Still worth a look. Its a fsirly steep walk down and up via steps.

Visited in March so it was cold but also very very quiet! Beautiful cave and the walk around it is also worth it.

Absolutely great. Totally awesome place steeped in history. We visited in February '24 so it was very quiet and no tour operating as out of season. But thoroughly enjoyed the water fall inside which was absolutely roaring, took a few snapshots of it but because it was so fierce we were soaked. The force of the water was incredible even so far away! Totally worth a visit.

Beautiful and spectacular cave. Public toilets, well maintained steps down. Free public access but possible to pay for tour and or boat trip.

Visited in October.Nice for a walk and explore.Lovely views & my son liked how it was lit up inside the cave, the little bridges and waterfall.Easy path down and back up, not wheelchair accessible.Didn't do the tour as we had no cash on us, but I think that takes you on a little boat and caving adventure to get a better look at the waterfall etc further inside the cave.Public toilets and parking at the top.

Very popular and for good reason. Fabulous cave, exciting (If short) dinghy ride and the guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. All in all a great place and stunning outlet to the sea.

Beautiful place to visit, its free to see the water fall inside cave, there is a charge of £10/ adult and £5/- child charge for the guided tour of the cave with boat. We did not do as kids got scared? as it is autumn it is not busy for guided boat trip, however tour guide said it is really busy during summer, also told that fish in the cave are deadliest Scottish parana?s which is scary?!!

the cave even more magical. The tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging, providing interesting facts about the history and geology of the cave. The walk down to the cave was a bit steep, but it was well worth it to see the impressive entrance and hear the sound of the waterfall echoing through the cavern. It was also fascinating to learn about the different chambers and formations within the cave, including the impressive underground lake.Overall, visiting Smoo cave was a highlight of my trip to Orkney Island and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

It's a cave. Nice enough. Unfortunately the tour wasn't open due to the rain (none in the previous 2 days). But it was nice to go see and it was very quiet, one other couple. No waterfall unfortunately as previously mentioned it hadn't rained. It's free access down lots of steps, fine going down, hell going up ?It was lovely to see and don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a lot but it's such a shame more isn't done to make it better. Add some more lights in different colours to show the interesting corners of the cave and different areas. Add some info boards so we can understand the history, was it used for anything, hiding people or by pirates to stash their gold? Would have added to the experience. Was a little underwhelmed after reading all the hype.

Smoo is an amazing cave with an impressive history. Easily accessible and plenty of parking, we visited early in the morning and there weren't many people. Can imagine it gets quite busy. Didn't do the tour but it sounds great, and local cavers are actively trying to discover further chambers. Really nice way to spend a few hours, we were doing the north coast 500 route.

Breathtaking seriously Breathtaking yea is just a cave, oh, is it? There is something so special about this place, and I personally feel in love with it.Please do yourself a favour and stop at the beach quarter of a mile back from the cave. You can thank me later.

At low tide it's a great spot to stop for a stroll and a lunch break. Quite lovely and great service amenities. Theres a town nearby with a full grocery so if you need to fill up on snacks or some great scallops and fish for dinner, pop by the cave and the spar in town
