Fantastic bar serving fine ales and local brews as well as a large selection of top quality whiskys. The food is awesome and well priced. The staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We didn't stay in a room so cannot comment but I'm sure they will be very good.A fantastic place as a base to explore the surrounding countryside which is just stunning. Smoo cave is a short walk away and well worth a visit. Knowledgeable and friendly guides will make your visit memorable. All in all 10 out of 10.

We didn't stay overnight so can't comment on the rooms. However, we had dinner there and the hospitality was fantastic, the food was delicious and fresh. Very welcoming and worth every penny.Food & drinks: Food was delicious, they had freshly caught fish that day and it was so lovely! Also had a kids menu and the staff were really attentive to our 3yr old.

We were staying in Durness and decided to stop in here for dinner one evening. The staff were very friendly and happy to help. The food was delicious. There is also a pool table which was perfect for us. A stunning location, with decent parking available.

excellent small family run hotel, highly recommend. Spent one night here - Frances & Hugh (local owners) both are hands on checking in guests , serving at bar & at breakfast. Room was clean & comfortable & great value for money. Lively bar where we enjoyed mixing with the locals & tourists - great selection of local beers ( recommend Orkney Gold).. We then ate in the dining room conservatory which was lovely , both having Monkfish ( Battered).. wow - one of best mes ever. Special mention to the staff - the two girls & guy at the bar were friendly & really good . Breakfast was freshly cooked to order & excellent . The views from our room were fantastic - sea/ beach views. Anyone heading to Durness should stay or eat here - first class small hotel with lovely owners & fantastic staff . 5/5 . We will be back .

Super friendly, helpful and cheerful staff create a great atmosphere in this cosy pub. Small and simple menu but very tasty food and well prepared. We ate here for 4 nights in a row as it's the only place in Durness, but honestly it's so good that was no hardship at all.

Lekker eten in pub sfeer. Zelf bestellen aan de bar. Je kunt niet reserveren maar op goed geluk binnenlopen. Wij hebben de chicken curry gegeten: prima!

Often visited by us on hols in August its great to get a proper ale (Orkney Ales) and a nice welcome (and a couple of pokes of chips) ....when sadly so many places up here are turning away non residents. Keep it up guys ?...... visited again 08/2023 and really accommodating & friendly towards non-residents (and the dog) with good ale on draft to boot. Recommended.Food & drinks: Great selection

A small hotel with a very friendly welcome - a great touch - and great hospitality shown The very comfortable and very clean family room was just what we needed after a rough night in Thurso the previous evening. Full Scottish breakfast was delicious and of high quality. The hotel is ideally situated near Smoo Cave, and there's also a path through the surrounding fields which leads to the coast - magnificent views abound. Regret staying here only one night. Fully recommend to anyone.

On a Sunday at 7pm, the only place open and it was phenomenal. Great monkfish, battered and braised. Exceptional service with a friendliness that I wished restaurants at my home country would have!Thank you for the great food and for the great hospitality!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at the Smoo Cave Hotel the other night. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy and the bed very comfy. All staff were friendly and accommodating. The Hotel is ideally located for exploring Durness, including the Smoo Cave, beautiful beaches and there's also a zip line at the nearby beach which was great fun!We had our dinner in the bar area - our meal was lovely and good value for money. We enjoyed the selction of drinks and Scottish whiskys on offer in the bar, as well as a game of pool. Breakfast the next morning was also lovely and is included in the price of the room.A great stay - would definitely stay here again whilst exploring the NC500!

Great place to stop over. Frances runs a great wee hotel. I think £145 is expensive for one night but it did include breakfast and is the going rate in the area.

Food was amazing! Recommend the lentil curry. Deducted a star for the long wait at the bar to order- would be better if there was table service. Also menus on the table would be helpful. Definitely stop by for food.
