Nice but nothing more...

Not for me! We had rented a property for the night, and whilst that rental was fine the craft village itself was not nice. Whole place smelled really musty, the crafts were okay at best. I was hoping for lovely quality craft items but most felt very diy. The place seemed a bit dirty, with lots of litter and I couldn?t wait to get out the following day. Saying all that, the people who we chatted with seemed really friendly and very dog friendly. So I?ve given them a star for each of those points. If we came back to this part of the world, personally I would definitely skip.

We arrived at the Craft Village after a 2-hour drive to find that all the shops except 2 and the cafe were closed. Nobody seemed to know why. The cafe had a very limited range of savoury food, apart from croissants that were warmed through in the microwave, leaving the croissants soggy and the fillings cold. The 'world's best hot chocolate' tasted thin and watery, as if it hadn't been stirred. The only saving grace was the pleasant young lady serving at the cafe.

Amazing selection of crafters at this village with a range of prices to suit every budget. Fantastic cafe with the best hot chocolate. Very quiet, almost a little eerie at times, but a beautiful setting and highly recommended to visit. I would suggest taking cash as not all the crafters take card payments. Crafts from as little as a few pounds up to hundreds so there is something for everyone. You need about an hour to get round all the crafters on site at a reasonable pace.

Absolutely amazing. Recommended to anyone. If you on RNC 500, you definitely need to stop in Balnakeil Craft Village xxx

The "artist" in the shop with the ugly little paintings is sort of a Weepie who is still hurt in his feelings because of a mask mandate more than 3 years ago, so he friendly throws out people who wear masks. If you have cancer or are in any other way immunocompromised you might not want to go there. You won't miss anything, though.

We're so happy that we went for a run from the cam site in the morning & saw this place. We later visited with the family & it's such a nice positive place buzzing of creativity & "fun".It's originally built for RAF in the 50s but it was never used for military, but instead sold to the council, which rented it out for a while & later sold units to creative souls all around UK.There are so many different things to see & experience if the weather is reasonable (each gallery is indoor) & I recommend enough time for this.

Great place to visit. Friendly people and good prices. Food was lovely at the cafe on site. Highly recommend for some crafts and art work. Super beach at the end of the road.

Lovely people, I definitely recommend Björn's deep time geology exhibition. It was really interesting to learn about the Highlands' geology and meet such an interesting, incredibly knowledgeable, lovely person

In an old military camp the buildings have been utilised by crafters and artists and you can wander about popping in to varios studios to see a myriad of artisitc styles , some of the artists can be seen at work and all works can be bought. A few of the buildings have remained closed since covid so its not full but its well worth a small detour off the NC500

Most were closed when we visited in March but Cocoa Mountain was open and confirmed for a most needed break from the wind.

Fascinating place but quite deserted when we visited in late October. More than somewhat bleak!!!
