Went to get some cat food. Great range of products and the staff are great, they look happy to help. They are asking for a donation to the animal shelters so they can feed the animals . I donated because it is tough right now- everybody is feeling the pinch. I thought it was a great thing to do.

Visited the store tonight to enquire about buying a hamster. Staff member (sorry not to have got her name) was so lovely and informative, really came across as an animal lover and was talking us through the needs of looking after a hamster.
After discussing the minimum size of cage, we couldn't believe the conditions that pets at home allow the animals to live in whilst in store.
It became apparent very quickly into the conversation that the glass cages for display are where the animals live. These small cages are highly stressing the animals and are around 1/4 of the minimum size required to keep these animals.
How can such a large operation work like this? Do pets at home have to adhere to minimum standards to look after animals and to sell them?
It seems ridiculous that they can get away with these cramped conditions.
I must highlight the professionalism of the worker tonight who you can tell really cares about the lives of all animals in the shop. I hope to see changes with pets at home but fear it's one rule for us? and another rule for themselves.
I would add that there are reviews available to read between dunfermline and perth branches of animals bought in very poor health. The root cause of animal illness is their living conditions. Pets at home - are you doing enough with your internal policies on keeping animals?

Has got what I need most of the time. Unfortunately prices are just crazy. Some online retailers are cheaper now, even for 15KG bags of dog food with delivery charges.

I usually buy live food for my gecko from an independent shop in Cowdenbeath. They aren't open every day do I occasionally hade to buy from pets at home. Every single time I have to sort through containers of dead crickets to find any that are alive. Horrible to have all these dead creatures on display and actually offered for sale.
