Beautiful surroundings with excellent service and furnishings. The menu was varied although the dessert menu was very limited. The ambience was spoiled by the strong smell of cooking fish during our meal even though we were not too near the open kitchen.

Dined here a couple of evenings while resident in the hotel. Service outstanding. Although the menu is limited we thoroughly enjoyed our choice and 3 course meals each evening. Particularly liked how as a couple you are not seated too close to other diners.

Small number of choices on the menu. Compared to when we were last here about a year ago. This can be a good sign but wasn?t this time. My guess is that the current chefs don?t have a full set of capabilities for short notice choice. Good sized portions but not the same quality of taste - in our view.

No ambiance, paper napkins. Not 5* Dessert was cold, forgot to give bread with cheese platter. Kitchen was open plan, but no enthusiasm from chefs. Felt like a cafe. Restaurant does not match hotel.. Wouldn?t return.

We have always experienced top quality service, atmosphere and food at Cromlix House whenever we have visited. Over the past five years, we had visited Cromlix for lunch, afternoon tea and an overnight stay. It was because of our positive prior experiences, and it being a perfect location for a small wedding, coupled by what we deemed to be competitive prices for a five star venue, that we held our wedding at Cromlix in May 2022. The organisation of the day, with the aid of the in-house events coordinator and their team, was efficient and effortless. The day ran smoothly and any queries were addressed quickly. Nothing appeared to be an issue for the Cromlix team. We ate an evening meal in the Garden Room the day before the wedding, which was from the a la carte menu, and the food and wine was exceptional. The food that we had chosen for our set wedding menu was also exquisite in flavour and presentation. Using a frozen hollowed blood orange half as a bowl for our lychee sorbet (palate cleanser) was innovative - it was a great talking point. We received numerous compliments from our guests on the food. Cromlix catered for dietary requirements with ease and the food that these guests received looked equally incredible. I could not recommend Cromlix enough for any occasion. My one very small gripe would be the lack of built-in sound system. Nevertheless, they have a portable bluetooth speaker. I would recommend using this if you're having a private meal in the Garden Room for enjoying background music.

We ate here for the first time at lunchtime today and the meal itself lived up to all expectations. It was our 40th anniversary and we were excited to be going for a special meal. The service, though, spoiled the experience: arriving at 1.30, we were told to sit in the bar where nobody acknowledged or came near us for around 15 minutes to take a drinks order (even although there were plenty of staff milling around) and our drinks took another 10 mins to arrive. Then we were given the menu and eventually we were invited to sit at our table 45 minutes after arriving. In short, the food was great but the experience was let down by the service and the feeling that we weren't that important as customers.

Visited as a group of 4 adults and 2 children. Nice venue (preferred the lounge area to the actual dining room though) and child friendly. Starters and mains were good, desserts not so strong. Overall though, we enjoyed our visit.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Staff were outstanding- knowledgeable and friendly. Well presented and excellently prepared lunch befitting of the standard of the surroundings. Really relaxed ( not stuffy) .

Excellent food, superbly cooked and beautifully presented! Crispy parcel of spiced stone bass, ham hock terrine with home made piccalilli, roast loin of roe deer (no knife needed!), pan seared fillet of halibut. Top quality ingredients with wonderfully matched vegetables, herbs and spices to let the stars of the show really shine. Bonus of a tiny chocolate muffin on a "happy birthday" decorated plate for Mum's 80th Culinary HEAVEN!

Strong smell of chip shop fat smell on arrival which we got used to! Cafeteria feeling with lots of afternoon tea guests while we had lunch, paper napkins, tables not cleared when guests left, our glasses not cleared when empty but surprisingly they tried to clear our table with one guest still eating!, staff uniforms from a jumble sale (when I told the Ayrshire waiter that he was missing a button on his waistcoat he said yes! I guess he can?t sew!). Sparkling water from Wales when Scotland?s Highland Spring is along the road! Apparently Mr Roux chooses the water and only Welsh is good enough! - strange that Scottish water isn?t good enough when he claims he tries to use local ingredients when he can. But the staff said he only visits every two years! We asked who the maitre d? is and the waiter didn?t know the term so had no idea who it is! Coffee cups put down as they were no effort to set them with the handle correctly positioned?..When we asked for the bill, we had to wait ages and then a further 15 minutes for the card machine. On the bright side - the staff were friendly and so I can only put it down to a serious lack of training. The food was fine but not wow - the ham hock terrine was lacking in taste and the fish in pastry starter with rice was nice but large. We all had the roe deer which was nice but by that time we were in cafe experience mode and so it was difficult to wow us. Puddings were fine but I struggled to taste the Baileys in the Bailey?s ice cream. £320 for 4 of us in a chippy smelling cafe environment with pleasant but poorly trained staff - no thank you - we won?t be back and don?t recommend you waste your money - continue along the road to Gleneagles. Disappointing - as we only went because we?re Andy fans and assumed that the Roux brand would be quality. Apparently the staff are from a separate management company - ICMI - so I think Murray and Roux really need to ask if they?re good enough for their names!

We went as a family recently and enjoyed the experience. The food was very tasty and the extensive drinks menu was very interesting. We have to say however that we were disappointed to only have a choice of three starters and three main courses on the menu, we thought that the menu would have been slightly more extensive.
