Terrible customer service in Dumfries WHsmiths, we were spoken to in a rude manner by two floor workers whilst looking at things to buy and they tried to kick us out for simply looking at toys and asked us to walk ourselves to the door. Not happy about this at all as I was trying to buy a present for my nieces birthday with my friends and was made to feel so uncomfortable that left the shop. I believe we were target as we are a group of teens as they kept making comments about our age

I pre-ordered a book at the end of July, that was being released on the 24th October. I did not collect it until yesterday (Monday 30th October) I never got updated emails, that it was on the way to the shop or that it was ready to collect. I messaged an advisor on webchat, who then seemed to disappear on me. I them spoke to someone via Facebook messenger, who was able to tell me the book was ready to collect. I will not be pre-ordering anything with WHSmith again.

Amazing service, however, unfortunately, it does not sell concentrated sodium hydroxide solution (NaOH). I was looking for some high-grade standardised NaOH for my kids as they needed it for their 'among us' cosplay, but unfortunately i was met with judgement from the young woman working there. She informed me that this was a corrosive chemical and that I would not find it anywhere on the high street, but did suggest I could replace it with monster energy drink, and it worked a charm!

Good shop for books and magazines and is reasonably cheap compared to your conventional book shops. Good selection and always get some great books on big clearance section at the back. Good that there's a well stocked fridge there with some nice stuff.

Large branch with the usual wide variety of products. Needs to modernise it's approach. Self serve tills awful and newspapers too inaccessible. Good choice of magazines and books

Good variety and selection of products, especially considering the lack of established retail outlets left in Dumfries town centre. Large selection of books, stationary and toys for all ages with specialist sections like PC/IT resources, special interest magazines/books and console games.
