Bought myself a nice little 12 plate Astra from here as a second car today.I expressed interest in a couple of cars one which was the Astra.I was given the keys to have a look around. No pushy sales patter just have a look and see what you think.Once I'd had a look around went back in to hand the keys back and was given details on what the cars come with. 12 months breakdown cover from RAC, 3 months warranty which is extendable and a years MOT.Very happy with my purchase. Great service. I will definitely be back in future. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable with the history on the cars at downsway garage.(I also feel a bit guilty as there was next to no fuel in the car I traded in ?).Thank you for making it a stress free, easy purchase ?

Recently bought a low mileage, very clean used car from Downsway. Iain could not have been more helpful, very knowledgeable about the car and its history and most of all I was made to feel welcome. Deal done, Ian went online and changed the V5 to my name and taxed the car on my behalf. Very impressed overall and would highly recommend Downsway Garage.

I bought a 6 year old car from Downsway garage, looked good, seemed to run well before purchase, in light of only road testing it once that is. To realise a cars in and outs I think it takes a good few weeks to see. Saying that the garage provided a 3 month mechanical failure warranty to the value of £500 to put me at ease, which is after all why we buy cars from garages rather than private sellers ? the after care comes at a cost but should help if anything goes wrong.First set of problems arise within 2 weeks of purchase. Mould growing on the off side rear window inner seals, saturated inside when it rains, steering noise, braking noise, vehicle pulling to one side. Took vehicle to garage, spoke to Ian, showed him the mould and other problems, he agreed to order and fit the seals for the window and to look at the rest of the faults, my vehicle was booked in for a few days later. Dropped the vehicle off, I was called a day later told the car is ready, went to pick it up, to be told that nothing is wrong, nothing was ordered, nothing was fitted, nothing was checked, on top of that the roof of my car was scratched up by what looks like someone using it as work bench for tools. So I still have mould, I still have steering noise, I still have brake noise and now I have scratches.Second set of problems arise within a month of purchase. Clutch judder and clutch drag. Again took the vehicle in to the garage. I was called the next day, told that three people have driven the car and they can?t see any problems. What a surprise, no problems. I must be imagining it all. At this point I realise that nothing will ever be done and all it will be is me taking my car back and forth, wasting my time, wasting my money and all I will get is the same answer ? there is no problem. After deciding to settle with the vehicle I later had to remove the gearbox as the judder was becoming too dangerous, especially at round abouts when trying to take off from a standstill. What I found after removing the gearbox and clutch to inspect was that the engine sump had been removed and when replaced was not sealed properly so oil was slowly dripping onto the clutch, now to fix this is not as simple as it sounds as they make vehicles with a mind to mess about the home mechanic as much as possible, to remove the sump and fix the seal I would need to remove the front timing cover, and replace the front crank seal, the rear crank seal and fit a new clutch, I would need a engine hoist to support the engine aswell, the costs kept rising. The vehicle was not worth keeping, after owning it for just three months I had to get rid of it. If this review does get a reponse from Downsway Garage please don?t believe their drivel. It is your money and your families safety that you can put at risk. Watch out for this cow boy outfit of a garage, you are playing car lottery and the tickets cost a hell of a lot more than the euro millions. You have been warned. Here is another tip, a MOT does not cover the condition of the engine, clutch and gearbox.
