A castle well worth a visit!Although you have to pay for general admission it is most definitely worth it, the castle provides you with the best panoramic views of the loch and there is plenty to see and learn about the history of the castle if you have the time to stop and read the information boards.

14.50 pounds entrance fee is a cheek, I've seen castle ruins that were nicer. The only thing that is convincing is the location on Loch Ness, as you have a great view of it from the castle.

Nice little bit of history,Stunning views of Loch NessThere is a cafe (though very expensive)Tip, if you don't drive plan your trip as in winter months the bus service from Inverness runs every two hours.

Historic old castle right on the banks of Loch Ness. Definitely worth a visit. With a souvenir shop, café and clean toilets. The castle complex is easily accessible on foot, but there are many stairs. You can always find information signs and learn interesting facts about the castle and its ruins. There is free parking on site.

Very unfortunateWe would love to go in....Now the employee sent us away from the entrance. We couldn't find out about the prices and we weren't even allowed to go to the trash can.Unfortunately, it was also not allowed to ask the employee questions.

Urquhart Castle is one of those special places that makes you feel very ?Game of Thrones?.The history of the castle is extraordinary, going back almost 1,500 years! The medieval setting is spectacular next to Loch Ness (which has its own extraordinary history). There?s also a really nice gift shop in the visitor center. Really a must see.Not wheelchair friendly, unfortunately. Expect to spend an hour and a half here.

Recommend combining Urquhart Castle with Culloden battlefield site and Fort George for excellent history tour

Come and see for yourself a solid piece of history. Once one of the largest castles in Scotland, Urquhart saw great conflict during its 500 years as a medieval fortress. During the Revolutionary Wars, control of the castle passed between the Scots and the English. It is situated high on a rocky peninsula and surrounded by the deep waters of the famous Loch Ness (home of the legendary "Nessie" or Loch Ness Monster).

Amazing historic castle on the banks of Loch Ness. Most aspects of the castle ruins are explained in detail on informational boards. There are some free guided tours although I cannot attest to their quality as we opted not to join them. The gift shop and cinema room were unfortunately closed. For holders of a Young Scot card entry is 1£! Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling around the highlands.

Well organised, well maintained, it is little more than a ruin but information posts and reconstructions manage to give charm and context to the stones and walls.A pleasant and interesting visit that I would recommend.

Incredible grounds with beautiful views of Loch Ness. We enjoyed learning the history of this place. There were so many beautiful backdrops for pictures! Multiple people offered to take our picture which was so nice! (We visited the beginning of June and we had beautiful weather.)
