The best fish chowder I have ever tasted. I haven?t stopped going on about it to anyone who will listen. The twist of the butternut squash base is genius! This was my second visit to the cafe at the antiques centre and I was worried it wouldn?t be as good as the first time round. Glad my worries were put to rest as it was delicious.Yes, it is a bit more expensive than your usual cafe/restaurant but it is top quality food accompanied with top quality service. The many negative reviews here re cost are frustrating as the prices are on the menu and if I felt something was too expensive, I wouldn?t order I would just leave and go somewhere else.On this occasion we had the fish and chips and the chowder followed by the apple pie dessert and the rhubarb crumble. On a previous visit, we had the venison main and the chowder (because I am obsessed with it!) (included in the photographs too) and the dishes on both visits have been excellent. The inside of the cafe is lovely. There are lots of pieces of artwork hanging to look at. On our last visit in November, the fire was on too.We live in Edinburgh but it is worth the 50mins - 1hour drive out here for the food alone. We will most definitely be back for a third visit!

Never been disappointed at Cafe Circa (Doune). Always good food and fantastic staff. Keep on returning. One day I'll even look at the antiques part of the site!

Very nice food, excellent fish and chips, great cakes, love atmosphere and friendly staff. On the expensive side but we felt it was reasonable for the quality. Plan for pub and restaurant prices not cafe costs. A wonderful little spot and a lovely break when you're spending a day exploring antiques!

We always have lunch here when we visit Doune on holiday - very high standard of food, ambience and staff. Celeriac and truffle oil soup with home made bread then apple and quince cake with coffee. Well worth a visit.

This cafe is part of the very large and impressive antique centre. We called for coffee and cake and enjoyed both. Only when paying the bill did we realise how expensive each item was. Our regular cappuccino and latte cost £4.50 and a scone with butter and jam £5.

Cup of tea and a scone £9. ????. £5 for the scone and £4 for the tea???.?.. I phoned Doune to check if I had been charged correctly and was told yes.. Lady who served was very pleasant.

We stopped here on the way to Falkirk to see the Kelpies, the staff were very pleasant, we both had mac and cheese with fries and the quality was excellent and had cold drinks, no room for cake as we were full ! Reading some of the other comments i would agree the prices were a bit more than you can get elsewhere but i would definitely go again if we were in the area, the attached antique centre is a alladins cave and covers a large area and worth a visit.

We had spotted this place on the way up to Killin and decided it would be great to pop in on the way home for breakfast. Needless to say we did not order any food on principle as the prices were shocking. £10.50 for eggy bread, £16 for a breakfast and to top it off it was £4.50 for coffees, we didn't even get a biscuit with the coffee, my husband asked for hot milk with his and got cold milk. They should not be allowed to rip people off like this. I work in a tea room and I am fully aware of prices and profit margins. This is extortion to the highest degree. Would not recommend at all and will definitely not visit again.

Since this is a cafe we expected a variety of food including sandwiches etc. There were only soup, mains and desserts available. Because my wife is diabetic and has a small appetite we decided to share a main course. The food was greasy and well overcooked, 1 piece of fish & chips, and we weren?t offered any sauces. It was edible but not what you would expect for £18.00. However the shocker came when we got the bill. £26.00! They charged £8.00, £4.00 each, for 2 diet cokes, not bottles or cans but made from syrup! We were chatting with some tourists at the next table and they said they only had a coffee because of the prices. They planned to go elsewhere for lunch. As a Scotsman I was embarrassed because people, especially tourists, were being fleeced. This café should realise short term gains are only short term. They will never see these tourists again and you can bet they?ll warn their friends. We certainly will never use the cafe again and we will also tell our friends! I honestly believe the Scottish Tourist Board should be informed!

Had a wonderful meal, and our coffee was the best, Stopped looking for an early dinner as travelling with our dogs, staff were very helpful and even brought out water for the dogs as it was a very hot day. Could have sat there and drank their coffee all day.

Two Flat White Coffees, 1 scone 1 shortbread, £18. What a Rip Off. At least Dick Turpin Wore a Mask. How on earth do these places get away with this. I Wish four and five star reviewers on here were more honest with posts, then these places wouldn't survive. Just read the other negative reviews, all saying similar.
