Stayed here for one night last minute when another hotel cancelled due to a power outage. It was quiet, clean, and warm--just the thing for a chilly, windy night! Breakfast was yummy, and the staff were really kind and accommodating with our requests for hot water and stowing out bags as we walked around the island. We enjoyed chatting with them. Definitely would recommend!Rooms: Small but clean. Had everything we needed.Walkability: Amazing location in the heart of Stromness.

Excellent structure, trained staff who followed and assisted us with professionalism, giving us a lot of useful information for the place.Nice room, spacious, clean, excellent linen. New bathroom. Free parking 400 meters away. Our room was in a small house a few meters from the hotel, but in Stromness it is even a plus.Abundant and excellent breakfast. We also had dinner in this establishment: excellent fish and chips, excellent meat and fish dishes. Informal, very welcoming environment.A special thank you as we arrived a little late in the evening compared to the restaurant opening hours but we were welcomed without difficulty for dinner.Visit in late September, early October 2023

We loved the Ferry Inn and its friendly staff during our off season stay. The made-to-order breakfasts were delicious and we appreciated the early morning send-off as we headed for the 630 ferry!Walkability: Right in the center of Stromness, within walking distance of everything. Bus service to Kirkwall and ferry service to Scrabster a few feet away.

Our last night on Orkney & what a great way to end our trip. The food at Ferry Inn was stunning & all the staff were lovely. The lads had steak cooked to perfection, one of us had chicken with haggis & it was so tender. This place is well worth a visit if on Orkney.

Poor customer service very slow to take orders but they insist that it's table service and we didn't order from the bar.Had a much nicer meal in the kirkwall hotel the day before. Better food more reasonable prices.

Not very baby/children friendly. No children?s menu. Not very busy and staff not attentive. If you want a delicious meal with lovely staff, head over to the Kirkwall Hotel.

This was my favorite stay in Scotland. It was the perfect location and my room was absolutely delightful.Rooms: I had a single room at the top of the hotel with a skylight above the bed looking out over the tops of houses. My other window looked directly out to the ferry terminal and harbor. I could sir and have a cup of tea and people watch.

A true gem of a place. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking stay in Stromness!Charming older building with all the quirks and foibles that give so much character, but nicely modernized. Very clean and well kept. The staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly. The bar and restaurant are top notch and the perfect place to wind down after a day of exploration.I will absolutely book here again whenever I return to Orkney.

Good hotel... everything just like the photos... very attentive staff. We did not try the food since it was very elaborate but the breakfast is good for us, correct for continental breakfast.Rooms: You have small stairs and the rooms are up to 3 floors above

Absolutely, hands down great food! Very kind staff too. Me and my friend only ordered soup and a starter to share plus some wine and we were well served. Tempura vegetables are amazing! Thank you ??

Awesome meal at the Ferry Inn, slow cooked lamb for the mains and lemon posset for dessert. Absolutely first class, thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. ?/?

Location perfect for Stromness ferry and bus/taxi to Kirkwall. Compact but very comfortable rooms with very good and helpful staff. Perhaps the room prices were rather on the high side, but if you have to travel in the middle of summer...Still, highly recommended.

The hotel is located right in front of the ferry terminal and you can park in the ferry lot for less than £3 per day (it rolls over to 9am the next day). Everything about this inn was fantastic. Our room was actually in the building behind the main building and we just strolled over in the morning for breakfast, which was included in the price. The staff were lovely, the food was great, and the room was very comfortable. One of the better showers we've encountered and I loved the light built into the bathroom mirror. Lots of room and storage if you're planning a longer stay.Nearby activities: Lots to see here. Skara Brae - neolithic village, standing stones - at Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar, Broch of Gurness - Iron Age village that you can walk in, St Magnus - gorgeous Medival Church in Kirkwall, Scape Floe - great beach, the North Sea meets the Atlantic here. The Scapa Flow Museum is on Hoy, you can ferry over - surrendered WWI German Fleet was scuttled here at the end of the war. Lots of wrecks to drive. Lots of local shops with beautiful jewellery, glassware, and treasures.Walkability: The entire town is walkable, they actually prefer if you don't drive in town. Lots of levels and hills, so stretch those calves!
