Came here for my husband's birthday Came here for my husband's birthday dinner. First impressions were good. Chef in his whites in kitchen. So far so good. I have had surgery and because of this asked for a half portion of lasagna. I was told no but you can eat from kids menu which was fish fingers chicken nuggets pizza or macaroni cheese and chips. I decided against this as as an adult not my choice of food. My husband got breaded fish chips and peas. What a disappointment!! Frozen fish chips and peas. Absolutely nothing fresh which was probably why I couldn't have a half portion of lasagna as obviously pre cooked and frozen. Dinner was absolutely mediocre and we won't be back. Loudoun Hill you need to get with the times and provide for a much wider customer base. Ditch the freezer food and cook fresh . Frozen fish chips and peas definitely did not hit the spotdinner. Lovely restaurant with wooden beams, wood burning stove, and views over the rolling countryside. Warm welcome from the front of house, courteous and knowledgeable staff. Food is locally sourced and delicious. Lamb chops were fabulous. Extensive menu to cater for all tastes - they even have a dog menu! - fantastic if you're out for a walk with your pooch and fancy a relaxing Sunday lunch. Worth the trip and will definitely be back.

Really nice meal. We had pizza and a burger. Chips were nice . Pizza lovely. Served brewdog alcohol free and af peroni for any of you interested. Atmosphere relaxed and staff friendly. Its dog friendly although no dogs in when we there. And despite the weather was pretty comfortable temperature wise. Would go back. Thank you x

Go for the Steak. It's not chesp here. Steak is big, bold and so worth the journey. .. .. You could have pizza - didn't try that, pasta -my friend went pqsta, he would have left hungry if we hadn't cshared our chips. pasta portions were very small. My daughter more than loved her Scampi. The forth friend enjoyed nite Chicken Milanese.. .. Some of us went starters, some went pudding... For the four of us, 1 bottle of wine between me and m friend, some cider forhim, one of was a tad expensive. But so pleased I went steak. If You want to treat yourself, do it properly, and do do it at .Loudoun Hill with their beef.

I have often driven on the A71 passing the Loudoun Inn and today decided to stop there for the first time for a late lunch.I've often heard the food is good and it was worth the trip so I thought I'd put it to the test.On entering the restaurant is lovely, warm and clean. It was quiet but we were given a choice of seats (a nice touch) and we sat at the window overlooking the Loudoun Hill itself. We had Cannelloni and Pizza, respectively, as a main course with bread with balsamic vinegar/oil as a side, (plenty oil/vinegar compared with some Italian restaurants I have frequented). The Cannelloni was lovely, nuclear hot and the pizza was obviously freshly made in their feature pizza oven, the bread on the side was also freshly made and hot, I've had this before in other Italian restaurants where the bread has obviously been bought in. Having it freshly made was a pleasant surprise.Desserts of Affogato and sugar covered dough sticks were both nicely proportioned and a perfect ending to our lunch. My only disappointment was to see the restaurant is now up for sale, the Inn is a hidden gem and I do hope the staff relocate into Ayrshire rather than disappear totally, from the local hospitality scene.

This is a review of the Loudoun Hill Inn (not the pizza restaurant although that was great, too). We stayed three nights, in a nice, clean room with a large en suite shower room and French doors onto a little sunny terrace area, perfect for the dog (and us). The bed was very comfortable and there was tea & coffee in the room, and biscuits. Shower gel & shampoo was also provided and the towels were changed daily, and the bed made. The owner, Danny, and his partner made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent - full, cooked Scottish fry-up with square sausage and black pudding. We were there for an event in Strathaven but this would be a good base for an area that has lots to offer. The car park is huge, and the pizza restaurant is next door

Lunched here recently, lovely location... no problems with staff , service or ambience. But pizza quality is poor...had better from supermarket...use better quality toppings...charge a little more ...

Amazing pizza. Proper authentic Italian taste to it with their proper pizza oven. Other dishes were good too and plenty to choose from.
