For a small village store we managed to get hot pasties/pies as well as a few basic lunch items. They also stock home essentials and act as a sub post office. So a small local shop that stocks essentials. We were staying at the nearby Locks and Glens hotel (lock awe) so the store was nearby, hence the visit.

Great location good hotel. Great staff and good food. Our room, number 120 on the first floor, suffered from a really intrusive, external noise. This loud roaring humming sound starts between 6 and 6, 30 am and definitely shatters your sleep. We presume it goes all day as we can still hear it when we return after trips out. It stops around 10 pm. And on our morning of departure it started at 5.30 am. In warm weather it is impossible to open the room window, due to the noise outside. We asked reception if we could change rooms but they told us this was impossible as they were fully booked. Yet we knew for a fact there had been one cancellation on our coach trip.

We stayed in the Loch Awe hotel as part of a Lochs and Glens package. We couldn?t fault the standard of our room and helpfulness of the staff. Excellent breakfast and reasonable dinner. Our room has been renovated to a high standard with a large en-suite bathroom, but other rooms do need updating.

Beautiful loch view and comfortable bedroom, lovely sitting room and excellent food, The staff were all very competent and also friendly. The area is suitable for walking and trips to other places - the hydro-electric set-up was brilliant and well worth a day's visit.

First time with Lochs and Glens and what a great holiday it was. Will definitely be going again. Location second to none - absolutely stunning view over the Loch from our room window. Hotel staff extremely helpful and our driver Ian very knowledgable. He made our trips enjoyable with his little anecdotes and stories. We'll done all of you!!!

I stayed with friends here, breakfast, dinner and an excursion are included in the price of the holiday. The excursions are really good, oban and mull are a fantastic visit plus we had good weather too. The coach was comfortable although too many rest breaks. Tour driver was a bit much, but the driver we had on his day off was lovely and seemed more generally polite and endearing. The room we had was small but had all the amenities you expect and was comfortable, just ashame it wasn't very clean. The hotel inside does look tired but this is no excuse for it to be dirty. Corridors, stairways could do with a good dust and hoover. There was fluff on the carpet for the duration of our stay, so it hadn't been hoovered for a few days. The hotel entrance isn't very welcoming. The staff are distant and not very chatty. The lady at reception appeared to be glued to the seat and was very abrupt. But then in the evening reception didn't have anyone there really and when someone was they where reading a book. Bar staff don't appear to be trained well, cleanliness lacking, tables sticky and dirty cups and glasses are left while the staff just stand arm folded behind the bar. Nightly entertainment was OK a bit dated but adequate. The service in the restaurant was a shambles, food barely hot and staff don't know what they are serving. I asked to speak to a manager, a dumpy man appeared eventually who just seemed to snarl and grunt at me( plus his body odour and terrible breathe put me off paying any attention to him) I just wanted him to leave. The following day a similar cold incident occurred. So asked for a manager , this time a young lady appeared she did listen to my views but while doing so just kept repeating herself by saying very loudly A HA, A HA ond on and on, I don't think she was actually listening to me, she just spoke very loudly and came across very fake and false which ( unfortunately I was distracted again by her massive false eyelashes blinking away at me and her massive trout fake lips) didn't solve the problem. The restaurant seemed short staffed every night but I never saw either of these managers helping the staff, are they actually the manager's? If so more training is absolutely vital they are very very wet behind the ears....I won't be returning to this hotel.

I was with a party of six. It was our first time with Lochs and Glens, but won't be our last. Breakfast and dinner included, several stops a long the way, Beautiful hotel situated by the loch, excursions also included. The whole experience was brilliant. The staff, including the driver, and all the hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Our driver John was polite, helpful and entertaining, good knowledge of historical events. We will definitely be booking again. Loch Awe is stunningly beautiful the views are amazing.

This was our first trip with Lochs and Glen's.I have to say that it was a revelation. The coach and drivers, Tracy and Derek were excellent. They were informative, friendly and helpful. The hotel was perfectly situated on the side of the Loch. Really pleasant from the log fire in the entrance to the pleasant reception rooms. The food was good and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Have to mention Attila and Barbara who were excellent. All the excursions were reasonably close. Oban was best for shopping with variety and good value. Great holiday and highly recommended. Room 201 was a turret room with a good view.

My first time on a Lochs and Glens holiday - it won't be my last. The hotel is in a wonderful setting. It was clean and comfortable. There's lots of interesting historical features remaining and the fact it has its own railway station is worth noting. Lovely views over the loch and our room had a view over the water to the derelict castle a short distance away. Our room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the shower very efficient. Breakfast and dinner were always tasty and hot. Nice that there were some traditional Scottish menu items too. Packed lunches were available for a small charge and although not big they were adequate. There are a number of comfortable sitting areas. Some of these were in the functions room where nightly entertainment was held, others were in the bar and some were in much quieter areas. Lots of board games were available to play. The staff were just brilliant. Always cheery, polite and helpful. I also like the feel that the staff were empowered to get things done without having to get permission. 10/10 for the staff; other places could learn a few things from this establishment and probably from Lochs and Glens in general.

I have recently returned from a 5 day break with Lochs and Glens at the Loch Awe hotel. Kevin was our coach driver for the whole break. He was a very good and safe driver and I liked his wit and his knowledge of Scotland. My room number 217 was warm and clean with tea, coffee, milk etc replenished daily. All the staff in the hotel were so friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. I enjoyed all of my meals there, some more than others, but considering how little I had paid for the break I couldn't fault anything. I enjoyed the 3 day trips out and enjoyed the evening entertainment too. There was a really lovely atmosphere in the hotel, I met some lovely people again and hopefully I will be meeting up with them in January for a break to Loch Achray. I love how well organised it is. ... in a military style fashion. Another fabulous holiday with Loch and Glens and I am looking forward to my next one.

My first stay at this particular Lochs & Glens hotel. The hotel is in a stunning location. My room 220 had a partial Loch view and was not as nice as some of the other hotels rooms that I had previously stayed at their other locations, however it was clean & warm. The hotel itself has bags of character. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. One day I skipped an excursion and walked to Cruachan Dam. A bonus on the return was a visit to Conan's Kirk which had a Christmas Tree Competition.Well worth a visit there if you can fit it in.
